Jazmine POV
I wake up to see a worried face peering down at me. I struggle to lift my head, wincing in pain."Shhh, calm down. You're safe now. My names Cristyn. What's yours?" I lay back down, soothed by Cristyn's gentle voice.
I open my mouth to reply but ends up not making a noise. I try again.
"M-m-my n-n-n." I stutter instead and shut my mouth in frustration."Oh yeah. I forgot about that." Cristyn laughs to herself. "Sorry about that. The medicine I gave you is still trying to heal you. Your head was badly damaged so some of your movements are going to be a little difficult at first."
I huff in frustration. But I like talking. How am I going to survive? I try to sit up again and manage to lift my self up. I reach for a notepad and signal for a pen. Cristyn hands me a blue ink pen from her pocket.
I grab the ink pen like my life depended on it and started to write down some of my questions.
Where am I?
How did I get here?
How am I healed so quickly?
What is that gold stuff I'm supposed to eat?Cristyn reads my questions ad nods as if their normal everyday questions. "Well. You are at Camp Half-Blood. A camp for children of a god or goddess and a mortal. A camp for demigods."
I wave my hand as to rewind and pause her reply and write down another question.
So... I am a daughter of a goddess?
Who?Cristyn shakes her head at my questions. "We don't know who your parent is yet. There is a campfire tonight and you'll probably be claimed then."
Wait so I am a demigod. If I am, how did I get here?
"I don't think it's my privilege to explain how you got here with such severe injuries. Here eat some of this. It'll help you regain your speech."
I reach for the golden stuff and take a bite. Mmmm... it tastes like Grans homemade lemonade. I lick my lips and reach for more.
"No no. You don't want anymore. It'll kill you. It's ambrosia. A godly snack. It's used in small pieces to heal. I've already given you a few pieces. Anymore and you'll burn up."
I pause with my hand still reach out. On second thought, I wouldn't like to burn up. I take my hand back. I then see another patient drinking some water and feel a sudden thirst.
I try to speak and get one word out. "Water." As I watch Cristyn pour ice water into a cup, I look around at other patients. I notice many people taking ambrosia and healing very severe looking scratches.
I see one person standing over a very pregnant tan woman. He kisses her and I see her glow with love.
I wish someone loved me.
Cristyn sees me watching them and taps me to give me my water. "Those two, our two lovebirds. Leo and Calypso. Calypso's due to a girl in a few days and Leo never leaves her side. It's beautiful."
I sigh. They're so cute. I'm never going to fit in. I lay back down, my thirst quenched, depressed that I'll never feel right here.
I suddenly jerk in pain and fall into a sightless state. Awake to the world but not knowing how.
