Chapter 17

“We won't be returning to base?”

Itachi shook his head. “No. Leader-sama has given us our orders.” Yuna frowned a little, her grip on the Uchiha's arm tightening.

“So where are we off to next?” She asked quietly, looking around for the other person on their team, she hadn't seen the shark since the night before. “And where's Kisame-sempai?”

“Kisame's gone off to settle some personal business, we'll meet up with him upon returning to the fire country.” He said.

“But where are we going?” She asked, annoyed that he'd ignored the question.

“Somewhere cold, make sure you have a list of what you'll need, we won't be stopping for some time.” The raven said, indirectly answering her.

The nine tailed kyuubi scowled, gently slapping his arm. “Itachi.” He chuckled a little at the pout that formed on her lips.

He caressed her cheek, brushing her bangs back a little. “It's a surprise.” He whispered, his nose brushing against her's.

The red head glared slightly, but a small chur rose in her throat. She liked the Uchiha being so affectionate. Itachi smirked, seeing he'd distracted her for the moment.

“You're going to need thicker clothes than that....”

Yuna scowled, turning to look at the raven. “Mah, but it's already so warm just in these!” She complained, tugging at the orange vest and the black sleeves of her jacket underneath.

“Remember it will be colder where we're going, and get some boots as well.” He ordered.

The demon glared at the back of his head. “ 'And get some boots as well' ” She mocked, glaring down at her ninja sandals. She hated shoes and only ever wore them when absolutely necessary.

“I heard that.” She stuck her tongue out at his back, going to find some stupid boots. “And get some gloves.”

“Mah 'get some gloves.' ” She retorted, mimicking his voice. Itachi sent her a pointed glare, was it just his imagination or had the beast turned back into a child?

He'd already gathered the clothes he would need from the mens store next door. He had expected Yuna to be just finishing up when he came in, but found she'd been gathering clothes much too light.

He sighed, sitting on one of the waiting chairs outside the changing room. She hadn't even gotten herself pants, was she planning to stay in her shorts? He shook his head looking up as his kyuubi emerged from the changing room again.

“Say what you want. I'm not changing.” She hissed, carrying the orange vest, black jacket, a black hat, fingerless gloves, and surprisingly a pair of long gray pants. The Uchiha frowned at her choice of gloves and that she clearly planned to stay in her sandals.

He followed her to check out, ignoring the looks he and Yuna were getting. He wasn't quite sure why they were getting them, since he and Yuna were both dressed like civilians. Not like they could see much of the kitsune anyway.

They left quickly, Itachi making sure no one was following them.

“Will you tell me where we're going now?” The kitsune asked as they exited the small town.

He shook his head at her persistence. “North.”

She frowned, giving him a slight glare. “Itachi...”
