Chapter 28

Kinaru: Hey people! I know I just updated, but I wrote so much at school, surprisingly. Just a heads up for this chapter, I'm going to skip to after Hidan and Kakuzu are dead. Sorry to all you Hidan fans, but I've got some plans for how this book ends and I really want to get to the third.

I'll try not to rush it too much, but ya. Hope you enjoy!

------------

Two more. Konoha had stolen two more people from her family. Even if one of them was a man she hated, the kyuubi couldn't help but grieve if only a little bit. If the leaf continued at the rate they were going, she'd end up completely alone all over again.

“Yuna?”

Her gaze softened as she brought it to the raven, she was cuddled up to. No. She wouldn't end up alone this time. She'd protect Itachi with her immortal life, even if he claimed she could do nothing but watch him leave her.

“What are you thinking about?” The raven asked, tenderly tracing her cheek.

She relaxed a tiny bit, letting herself be soothed by the gesture. “You. And how I'm not going to let that bastard kill you.”

The Uchiha winced, sitting up. “Yuna, we've been through this. I'm dying with or without Sasuke's help.” He said fixing her with a stern, but gentle glare.

She returned it, following him into a sitting position. “And I'm telling you, not a chance. I'm going to find a way to heal you. Even if I have to turn myself over to Konoha.” She retorted. “I've heard of Tsunade's medical skills, I'm sure she can heal you.”

Itachi sighed. “We've gone over this too. You're not turning yourself in, and the disease has done too much damage.”

The crimson colored beast pouted her cheeks, her tails lashing behind her. “That was before anyone started dying. Before they killed two men who claimed and proved to be immortal.” She insisted.

The missing-nin shook his head, laying back down. “I thought you'd be happy, now you don't have to worry about Hidan.”

She frowned, sucking in a sharp breath. “Yes. But I would have liked to be the Jashin's cause of death, not some leaf shinobi.”

He sighed, there was no arguing with her on that one. The kyuubi joined him back on the mattress, a small sigh escaping her lips as well. Things were getting too out of hand. If they didn't do something soon, Konoha would have them all dead.

She didn't want to think about it, but if they had found a way to kill Hidan, they had probably found a way to kill her too. She snuggled closer to Itachi, she didn't want them to die, she didn't want him to get hurt. She wanted to protect him, like he had been protecting her.

“If you two are done having your couple's quarrel, do you think you can keep your mouths shut long enough for me to sleep?”

The duo looked over at Kisame's hotel bed across the room from theirs. He had his head propped on his hand as he gave them an annoyed stare. They had probably been keeping him up all night.

Yuna offered him an apologetic smile. “Sorry Kisame-sempai. We'll be quiet now.” She promised.

The shark sighed, rolling over so he stared at the wall. “Next time we're getting separate rooms. “He grumbled, pulling the blanket over his head.

Yuna had to cover her mouth to keep from laughing. Itachi gave her a silencing glance, but a small smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.

“Between your whispers of sweet nothings and her purring...” Kisame grumbled, rubbing his eyes for the umpteenth time. The kitsune blushed, looking down at her shoes.

Itachi remained indifferent, keeping his eyes set on the road a head. “We''ll Stop off in the next town then. You can get a hotel room. Yuna and I will go to the local bar and see what information we can gather.” He offered.

“Two rooms! You two come back and I'll never get any sleep.” The shark snapped.

Yuna's ears went down as she glanced up at him, her lower lip trembling as her pupils grew. She didn't like it when he was like this, usually he was more carefree and nice.

“Sorry Kisame-sempai. I promise we'll leave you alone for the night.” She said, bowing her head to him.

Itachi frowned, but nodded in agreement. “Let's go. We'll split up after we have the hotel room keys.”

-----------

Kinaru: Yes, so very short I know, but I'm already halfway through the next chapter, I think, but expect another chapter later or tomorrow.

By the way anyone up for I lemon? I was thinking of getting them drunk at the bar? Your thoughts?

Anyway, I don't own Naruto and for all we know Yuna could be belonging to Itachi very soon ;)

So please, vote follow and review! I'll talk to you soon!
