This is for an unpublished Young Justice fanfiction plot I've been batting around. Doubt I'll ever publish it, 'cause I can't get it to look right in my head, but it's basically Supergirl with a twist. So Kara's name's Klara, and instead of Linda Danvers, she goes by Lynn Danvers. Instead of the fluffy Kara we know and love, Klara is more of a quiet Kryptonian who had been headed for the science guild and is now on Earth twenty-something years off schedule and trying to deal with the loss of her entire home and mission while learning the English language and American customs — she's horrible at idioms. She doesn't have to eat or sleep now, she has laser eyes, and she has no idea what to do now that her cousin is all grown up. I started digging into Wiki and the Kryptonian culture and forming their society in my mind. I feel like they never show that enough.

Her Flamebird suit is orange, pink, and yellow, so I tried to do a tie-dye effect with the background. I tried the "Cervantes" font, which kinda made it look like she belonged in a circus or a murder mystery, so I set it to "The Harison" instead (I felt like a bevel didn't really fit). I added a dust overlay to make it look comic book-ish. I didn't like it; it felt busy/crowded. Some of the orange shades turned out beige/peach, and I really don't like that.

I didn't know what to do to fix it, so I put it down for a while and came back with the sudden realization I could swap the tie-dye for a gradient.

I couldn't get the username to look right, so I moved it down to the title. I still didn't want to bevel the text, so I duplicated the gradient background and flipped it vertically, set the text to mask, and merged it visible. Masks and merging aren't really anything I have any experience with, so it was good to experiment.
