This is for my fanfiction for J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, Traitor. It's not really a cover or anything, it's just like a fun little graphic at the beginning.
The original PXD of this got deleted somehow, because Pixlr hates my guts, so we'll see if I can remember all of how I made it from memory? I made this a while ago.
First, this is an image I found of the Marauder's Map they use in the movie. I pulled the ink color from the map and used it to fill in the inside of Hogwarts and cover up the words "The Marauder's Map." The smoothness of that didn't match the rest of the map, so I used Pixlr's cloning tool to copy one smooth area all over the map.
Now, the movie map just says, "Messrs. Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs are proud to present the Marauder's Map," but in the books, the map says, "Messrs. Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs, purveyors of aid to magical mischief makers, are proud to present the Marauder's Map." I wanted mine to follow the book, so I made the canvas larger, duplicated the map, erased the bottom half, and smudged and cloned everything until it looked seamless.
Then I went through all of Pixlr's fonts and found some that kind of matched the movie map and used them for my text. I tried to copy their format.
And here it is with a blue overlay set to "difference," 'cause I like the colors even though it looks like crap:
