It was about 2 hours after my little tiff with Draco outside the castle and I was sitting in my dorm alone on my bed. Tracey and Daphne decided to head into the common room to see if the others were doing anything interesting and I haven't a clue where Pansy and Millicent are. I couldn't care less though.

I decided to write my father back as I had completely forgotten to respond to his letter from a couple days ago. I pulled out a piece of parchment from my drawer and a self inking quill and began to write.

Dear Father,

Sorry for writing back so late, I've been so busy in school! I know Tracey is half-blood. But she is in Slytherin anyway! I can't stay away from her, she's already became such a good friend of mine! Please at least try to understand.

As for the Dark Lord, I will not fail you. When i'm called I will be wherever i'm needed. I promise not to let you down. I just wish I had someone here to talk to about all this stuff, but I know no one can know. Don't worry about me, i'll keep it secret.

Love you father, stay safe in there

Love, Maris xxx

I sighed and folded up the piece of parchment and placed it temporarily on my bedside table as I got changed out of my uniform and into something more comfortable. I slipped on a silky pair of black pyjama shorts and a long sleeved silk black pyjama top, my usual pyjamas. After taking my hair out of my pony tail and letting it fall down my back in soft waves, I heard a small screech and a pecking sound on the window nearest to my bed. It nearly frightened me half to bloody death.

"What the hell.." I muttered as I walked over to the window and saw... an owl?

It continuously pecked at the window until I opened it. "Okay, calm down.." I whispered to it as it perched itself on the window ledge. It was a dark grey colour with bright grey eyes. It was beautiful.

"What are you doing here, buddy?" I asked it. I'm not sure why, I didn't exactly expect a response. However it did screech and hold up one of its legs and I noticed a small note attached to it. I raised my hands and untied the piece of parchment from the owl and opened it up.

Dear Maris,

Here's your own owl so it's easier for you to communicate with us, this way you don't have to use that useless Hogwarts owl!

Love, Mum X

I smiled at the note and looked back up at the owl.

"What to call you.." I muttered to myself again. The owl footed and turned its head to look at the sky...

"Sky! That's it! I'll call you Sky" I said to the little fluffy thing and it squeaked as I petted it. I grabbed the letter I had just written for my father and attached it to Sky's leg.

"Take this to my father... In Azkaban, please Sky" I said sadly and the sweet owl tooted before flying away. I shut my window and sat back down onto my bed.

I hate that my father is in Azkaban. I know he's done bad things, very bad things in fact. Tortured muggles, half-bloods, killed even. But he's my father and I still love him. He's still a kind man. To me, anyway.

After a few more moments of my useless sulking, the door to the dormitories burst open.

"Maris! Come down, we're gonna play a game!" Tracey squealed and Daphne ran up beside her.

"Those pyjamas are so cute by the way! The boys will die when they see you" she giggled and I rolled my eyes.

"I'm really not feeling any games tonight, sorry guys. I'll just stay up here" I said and snuggled down into my covers.
