Light Meets The Dark

It was an average Friday night for Shihai Kuroiro. He was alone in his dorm room watching horror stories on YouTube while eating some black ink squid pasta. He had his lights off and was sitting crisscross on his bed. Until he heard on knock on his door.

Shihai: Huh, I wonder who that could be.

People never really bother Kuroiro during this hour, so he was genuinely curious.

He opened the door and to his surprise, it was his crush Kinoko Komori

Shihai's eyes widened and he began to shake

Shihai: Oh! H.. Hey Komori. D... Do you need anything?

Komori: Kuroiro! Everyone's downstairs hanging out and sharing laughs. Even Shiozaki is embracing our twisted teenage humor. Why are you up here alone all the time?

Kuroiro: Well... I.. Uhhh...

Shihai couldn't get the words out, he was still in disbelief that his crush was at his door.

Komori was perplexed

Komori: Are you sick? You're sweating a lot

Kuroiro: No.. I'm just... I just.. like being alone... I guess

Komori: But why all us are having a good time. Monoma and Awase asked about you.

Kuroiro: That's nice, B... But I'm fine.

Komori: Common, let's go down! I'll walk with you.

Kuroiro: No, it's fine... Really... I...

Komori: Kurioiro, please!

Shihai gave in after seeing her cute face plead

Shihai: Yeah, sure. I guess I will.

Komori: YAY! Come on!

Komori grabbed Kuroiro's hand making him blush and dragged him to the elevators.

They got in the elevator and Komori initiated conversation

Komori: Shihai, you were amazing when we're training with class 1-A! I've been wanting to tell you.

Kuroiro: Ohh... T... Thanks. You did great yourself.

Komori: No, I only did so much. You really pulled ahead of Tokoyami in that fight. Your planning was amazing! You're so smart!

Kuroiro began to blush and tried to hide the fact he was flattered.

Komori: AWWW, Kurioro, are you blushing!? I've never seen you blush before

Kurioro: No, it... it's just hot in here *as he turned his head away from Komori

Shihai's Thoughts: This is your chance you fool. Tell her how you feel.

Shihai took a deep breath and gathered his thoughts

Kuroiro: Komori I-

Just as he was about to continue the elevator door opened and Komori rushed out.

Komori: Hey everyone, look who I found!

Everyone: Kuroiro!

Awase: Where have you been man?

Kuroiro: By myself.

Monoma: As usual. The resident of perpetual darkness needs his alone time after all.

Kuroiro: What he said.

They both joined their class in socializing. They were laughing and joking for almost two hours before Kuroiro left directly and walked outside. Komori noticed and followed discreetly as well. She hid behind one of the pillars outside. Kuroiro was sitting on the steps talking to himself.

Komori: I wonder what he's thinking. He seems so distant, more than usual.

Kuroiro: You idiot. That was the perfect chance to tell her how much you like her. And like an idiot, you waited till the last minute and it all slipped from your grasps. AGH, cursed feelings. I just want her to know how much I admire her. I think she's the most beautiful girl in the world. Everything about her is amazing. Her smile, the way she talks, her optimism, her happiness, everything. She radiates so much positivity even my darkened soul is pierced by her light. I've dedicated my life to the shadows and taboos but for her, I'd stare into the light even if it killed me.

Komori began to tear up and blush behind the pillar.

Komori's thoughts: "Awww Kuroiro, how long have you been holding this all in and how was I so oblivious to it?"

Kuroiro: I don't care if I make a fool out of myself. I'm going back in there and telling her how I feel. Even if it's in front of everyone in our class. I refuse to push these feelings down any longer. Come on Shihai, you got this. Just do it. What's the worst that could happen, she says no?

Komori emerged from behind the pillar with tears in her eyes

Komori Shihai Kuroiro, the answer would most definitely not be no.

Kuroiro turned around and blushed.

Kuroiro: How long have you been standing there!?

Komori: I heard everything.

Komori rushed to Kuroiro and jumped into his arms and kissed him on the lips. Shihai was blushing more than ever.

Kuroiro: Komori...

Komori: Kuroiro. You should have told me sooner. I feel so bad for ignoring you.

Kuroiro: I couldn't. I was too nervous and I was too afraid of rejection.

Komori hoped out of Shihais arms and grabbed his hand.

Komori: You don't have to be. I feel the same way.

Kuroiro's eyes widened and there was a big smile across his face. Not a diabolical one, but one filled with joy.

Komori: Wow. I've never seen you smile like that. You must be so happy.

Kuroiro: Yeah. I am.

The two love stuck teenagers walked back into the dorm still holding hands. The rest of the class had noticed.

Everyone: WAIT WHAT HAPPENED OUT THERE!?!?!

Setsuna: Girl spill all the deets!!

Kendo: Komori, what's going on, why are you two holding hands?

Monoma: Aren't you terrible with girls Shihai?

Both Komori and Shihai looked at one another and smiled.

After a little bit more talking, everyone returned to their dorms to clock in for the night.

Kuroiro and Komori were walking together

Kuroiro: So, you wanna go out sometime? Maybe bowling or catch a movie?

Komori: I'd love that. Here, take my number. Let's hang out very soon.

Kuroiro: Yeah defiantly.

Before the two parted ways, Komori placed a kiss on Kuroiros cheek

Komori: Goodnight Shihai.

Kuroiro had a wide and goofy smile on his face

Kuroiro: N... Night.
