Chapter 8. Part 1.
Blocked. Blocked. Blocked.
It was the last set and Karasuno was not getting any closer to winning the match. At this point, Karasuno's volleyball team were getting really frustrated at the fact their attacks kept on getting blocked by the basketball players. How could the volleyball team who specialises in volleyball be losing against the basketball team? You simply just didn't understand it.
Currently, the score was 5-8.
You were sitting out on the bench as the assistant coach rather than on the court as a libero. Your team needs you to come up with a strategy fast or else the basketball team could beat you guys severely. You watched the match with your (eye colour) eyes focused on the basketball team to see if you could figure them out once more.
Keishin glanced at you, thinking of asking the ref for one more time out so he could discuss with the team on how they could change things up a bit. However, when he saw the concentration that laid across your face, he calmed down and focused on the match once more.
'What is it about the basketball players that makes it so hard to beat them? They don't show the right skill set for being a professional volleyball player like Kageyama or Daichi. So what is it?' You thought as your eyes followed each one of the players.
You observed each player individually assessing their strength and stamina and speed. All their statistics seemed pretty low compared to your average volleyball player. Your (eye colour) eyes shift from player to player until it landed on a certain light blue-haired boy.
You leaned forward as your eyes focused on him. Tetsuya Kuroko, first year. There was something about him that made him different from his team. This first year is from your class, he's a very reserved boy. Sometimes it's as if he doesn't have a presence.
That's it! Your eyes widened as you finally figured why your team was struggling so much. The answer was right in front of you guys this whole time. You mentally slapped yourself for not being able to notice it earlier.
The reason why your team was losing is because of Kuroko. Kuroko lacks a presence which makes him almost invisible to his opponents. They used his ability to their advantage with his passes or in this case, he receives by directing the ball from him to his teammates so fast Karasuno couldn't see anything.
You quickly called for your brother and said. "Call for a time out I figured something out."
Your brother called for a time out. The whistle blew, indicating that the volleyball team had called for a time out. Your friends turned to you with a confused expression, wondering if you had something that could turn this game around.
As the volleyball team approached you, they were surprised when they saw the smirk laying across your face. You felt happy that you finally discovered what the basketball team had what the volleyball team was lacking.
"You seem way too happy (name)-chan I'd like to assume it's to do with the basketball team," Daichi stated as you simply threw a wet towel at him.
You nodded your head as quickly as you could. "I figured out why you're simply struggling to score a point. The reason is they have someone who doesn't have a presence."
Everyone except Tsukishima gave you a confused expression no matter how crazy you sound Tsukishima will always have faith in you. You chuckled to yourself knowing the rest of the team had no clue what you were talking about. "Do you see that guy with the light blue hair? If I'm not wrong you guys didn't notice he was there did you."
