Chapter 6: What's The Reason

My eyes burst open just as hands grab my shoulders. I squirm and back away, only to hear Doctor Candy's voice. I stop a moment and look to meet her eyes. I look away not even a second later, bringing my knees to my chest and wrapping my arms around them.

"Y/N..." Her voice trails off as I replay what I had just seen, wanting to have kept going. But for some reason I woke. Why did I have to wake up? "Y/N, you're okay. You're safe." I stayed quiet and didn't move, hearing the woman's voice. I let my eyes roam free seeing I was back in my room. No sign of the ginger haired girl anywhere. The only people in here with me were Candy and Wolf.

"Brittany's gone. She said you started to panic..You had a panic attack. Do you remember that?" I slowly nodded my head up and down, feeling my head ache. I close my eyes a second, then open them feeling the aching die down a moment. "Did something happen? Did she say something-" I shook my head from side to side, rather quickly and looked to the side to see Wolf holding the whiteboard. Slowly and carefully I extended my arm and he instantly brought it over. I let my legs lower from my chest, quickly writing on the board before showing it to Doctor Candy.

What's the reason I was brought here?

The room becomes silent. I let the board linger a little bit longer in the air already knowing she's read it. And before long, I dropped the board and let it stay on my lap, awaiting an answer.

"Y/N, we can't tell you much. All we know is that you went through something traumatic and you had signs of suicide," doctor Candy pauses a moment then continues. "There's also mutism. We know what you went through was harsh and horrible but we're just not quite sure why you've become mute." Silence fills the air once more. I erase the board and quickly write something else, turning it around and showing them.

Who brought me here?

"Y/N, Anna and Brittany brought you here. That's why they've been visiting..." I turn the board around feeling my breaths starting to rise and quicken. I erase the board, shaking my head from side to side, writing something quickly but stopping midway. My eyes stay locked on the board having my mind racing quickly. Obviously, Doctor Candy and everybody here didn't really know what was going on. Heck, neither did I. But something inside me knows that something happened. I mean explain what I just dreamt of. Anna and Brittany kidnapped me. For what purpose? I don't know. But I needed to know because there were moments where it seemed like I was friends with Anna. At least from that one with the sun. We seemed close. Like really close. But what happened when I was sleeping, she seemed distraught. She seemed worried and confused. They did something. They know the truth. And the bruises. I know I'm covered in them but in that moment, in that motel room they never saw them before that. The two of them looked...concerned.

"Y/N? Are you still there?" I clench my jaw and nod my head up and down, erasing what I had halfway written. I placed the marker back on the board and wrote quickly, then throwing it up, showing both Doctor Candy and Wolf.

Can I please be alone? I just need to be alone.

There was hesitation from the both of them, but soon enough I saw Wolf head towards the door and felt Doctor Candy's eyes on me. I kept my head low and put the board down on my lap, erasing it off. But before I could fully erase it I saw her hands on top of mine. I paused and stared at her hands noticing the black colored nail polish on her nails. It was pretty.

"If there is anything you need to talk about, know that you can tell me. I know you're thinking and there's something going on up inside that head of yours." Silence fills the room a moment before I hear her continue. "Y/N, if there's anything you remember, know that this, right here. Me and you. This is a safe place for you to talk and to get help no matter what it is. I am here for you and I'm not going to leave you." I nod my head up and down, keeping my eyes stuck on her hands. Silence filled the space between us for a long moment before she finally removed her hands from mine and stood from the bed. I heard the sound of her heels clicking away and the sound of the door closing. I wait a couple moments then I slide out of the bed and go to the desk.
