"howl! i can't believe this mess, this is going to be hell to clean up.." i muttered to myself, coughing at the dust i inhaled as i moved my hand through the air. hell, i thought sophie had cleaned this all up, but i guess a clean wizards home is still a soon to be messy wizards home no matter how hard you clean it.

i didn't want to bother the new cleaning lady with it, i could handle it after all. living in the moving castle of sorts for as long as i have made me used to it, until it started getting cleaner and i was getting used to the fresher air. "hey, calcifer?"

"yes, m'lady?" he spoke up, looking at me from his dying log. i sighed and grabbed a few, doing what sophie does and allowing him to be able to reach his own. "mind singing for me?" i asked. he looked at me like i was crazy. "fine, i'll sing myself. why can't you just grant me some fun memories." i pouted.

calcifer grabbed a log and sighed in satisfaction, feeling his spark spread and grow with the new surface. " ( name ) , you know only you can sing." "yeah, but i love your singing." i saw him turn redder and i smiled, tapping my fingers against the surface of the furnace area.

"so? would you please sing just a little something for me, spark?" he glared at me before sighing. "alright, under one condition." i raised my eyebrow in curiosity, urging him to go on. "you have to tell howl how you feel about him." i laughed loudly, snorting as i backed away and grabbed the broom.

i swept at the floor, gathering bits of dirt while calcifer just stared at me in confusion. "what? you know i'm right." i shook my head at him, holding up my hand and shaking a specific finger. "listen, there's nothing i don't like about howl, but i'm already married to someone else."

"when was the last time you saw him? tell me." i sighed, slumping my shoulders. he was right, i hadn't seen my husband since i met howl. i had wondered about him, where he was or what he was doing. "that's what i thought. it's time to move on, after so long you must be wanting something new."

"you speak like it's an object i could easily obtain." "i see the way howl looks at you, how he acts with you." "he's always been like that, spark. nothing about it has changed." i retaliated. "you and howl are bound by a curse of sorts, you know that. that's exactly how my marriage is. to me, at least."

"we make do with this dumb curse, though. you should with yours. try to break it." "yeah, i'll find my husband after so many years and then say 'hey man, let's go to court and sign divorce papers so i could get it with someone else.'" i gave him a dumb look, and he just sighed and slumped on his log.

i went on sweeping, smiling to myself as i saw the cleanness finally showing through. after i finished, i sat on the chair next to the furnace area calcifer was placed in. i danced my fingertips above his flame, watching him squirm to avoid burning me. "don't worry, you know i got some scars so what's another?"

"another scar is unneeded, ( name ) ." howls voice came from the front door, following the little bell that sounded. calcifer and i looked at him, giving him short greetings which he returned with that same smile of his. he looked around, seeming proud. "i'm going to have to thank sophie, the place looks neat as always."

i sighed, getting calcifers attention. he shook himself, looking at howl. "actually, sophie has been out all day with markl. ( name ) was the one dusting up a bit." howl hummed, giving me a grin. "sorry for assuming, thank you for your work around here."

i nodded, waving him off while looking at the ground. "no problem." i stayed silent while he stood there. i could feel his gaze burning into the back of my head. i tried shaking it off, but before i could he spoke up once again.

"let me repay you, hm? take you out for a treat or something. your choice." i laughed aloud, covering my mouth with my hand as i stood up from the chair. "no thank you, howl. i'm fine, no need to treat me when you don't even do such to sophie."

he frowned, but then replaced it with a smile. "well, then this isn't a reward. let this be a date." i choked. i laughed, holding my head as i did so. i looked up at him and saw he still had that dang smile. "really?"

he nodded firmly, showing he wasn't messing with me. i frowned and looked at calcifer, who was grinning widely. "i'll put water on you, don't make me." "you'll hurt howl if you do that, you know this already." shit.

i shrugged and looked at the patiently waiting man. i pressed my lips tightly together before sighing and walking to the stairs, leaving him without an answer. "sorry, howl. i can't." he let out a sound of disbelief, like he wasn't used to being rejected. he wasn't, that's the funny part.

i heard him racing after me so i picked up my speed as well, finally entering my room and slamming the door behind me. howl prevented it from being closed fully with his foot, which i knew was going to hurt with the force i put into closing it. i looked at him with a dumb look, and he returned it jokingly.

we just stood there staring at each other before i sighed. "you're being really persistent." "yup." it went silent once more before i soon got tired of it. i groaned and gave him a smile he was waiting to see. "fine. one dinner."

"and if you like it, then we can have another after that?" "don't have high expectations, pretty boy. i'm a married woman remember."
