female! reader
nah, chihiros parents were really feasting at the beginning though. also you're yubaba's daughter but that doesn't play big part in this.═══════ ❤︎ ═══════
i ran around the corner, laughing loudly as i heard rushing footsteps behind me. i maneuvered my way past the females with stacks of towels and males with food placed neatly on plates, careful not to bump into anyone.
people called after me, warning me to stop or watch out but i ignored them anyways. this was fun, and i had a race to win. with a deep breath, i made a beeline for the edge of the overview, not caring how high of a floor i was on, and jumped over it.
i heard gasps come from around me, but i couldn't care less about them. it seems they forgotten a big part of what makes me, me. my magic.
with a flick of my finger, my speedy fall was decreased greatly until i was floating. i looked up, laughing and sticking my tongue out at lin, who looked down at me with an angered face. "hey, that's not fair!"
"all's fair in love and war, well, except the love part! i'll see you tonight because now you owe me your dinner!" i called back to her, sticking my tongue out one last time before running to the main doors of the bathhouse and stepping outside.
though i was alone, i did a small victory dance and shouted with my happiness of winning. the sun beamed down on me, but i had no problems with it. "hmm, maybe i should make her get me dumplings! mm, the chef makes them splendidly!" i thought aloud, looking up as i did so.
i saw something rushing around in the sky, and i sighed with a frown as i knew it was my mother coming to start a new day at the bathhouse early. she'll call for me if i'm not there, so i'll spare everyone.
i took a deep breath and jumped up, using the wind to help guide me to the top of the bathhouse and land near an open window. i stepped in, closing the glass behind me as i brushed myself off of dirt and grime.
i could already hear her calling my name, so i hurried and entered the main room where i knew she would be. and i was correct, there she stood with her back turned to me. "welcome back, mother. nice to see you made it back without getting sunburnt."
i bowed as she turned to me, clasping her hands together as she smiled. she embraced me tightly, laughing. i groaned as she did so, i didn't mind her affection but sometimes it was a bit much. "okay, okay. you were calling me, what is it?" i asked.
she placed me down, looking proud of herself as she moved to the side. i saw a boy who stood there, looking around before looking at me and my mother. i tensed up, watching him bow. "hello there." he said.
my mother looked down at me, and i shook my head. "not again.." she nodded, laughing. "my sweet daughter, ( name ) , please welcome prince haku to the bathhouse. he'll be my right hand man, sort of."
i groaned, giving her a straight face before looking at haku. "hello, welcome to the bathhouse. please, make yourself feel at home and don't hesitate to come to me if you have any problems or questions."
he gave a thankful look, bowing once again. he had nice manners, that's good. "thank you." it went silent for a moment as we looked at each other before my mom spoke up. "alright! give him a tour won't you dear?" she gushed, before disappearing behind some curtains.
i sighed and looked at the waiting boy before scoffing. i said nothing as i walked to the same window i was at before, not bothering with haku as he followed. "prince? what is she thinking.." i thought aloud, pushing open the glass panes to the setting sun.
i looked over my shoulder, giving haku a somewhat forced smile. he was attractive, and if my mom made him her right hand man he must have something special going on about him. i wasn't going to waste my time with him, though. not yet at least.
"i'm sorry. i have other things to do, like not waste my time. please excuse me." i saluted him playfully, letting myself fall backwards out the window. he didn't seem to move as i did so, so i thought i was free. i let out a happy cheer, feeling the wind rush around me.
i closed my eyes, basking in the feeling of free falling before i heard someone call my name. i opened my eyes, screaming out as i saw haku falling towards me. his arms were open, and i shook my head. "are you crazy!?"
he forced himself to fall faster, his arms immediately going around me as he caught up. i pushed my arms against his chest. "do you want to fall into the water!? i can't float both of us to safety, i barely started mastering floating myself!" i yelled at him.
i heard him snicker, smiling as he looked at me. he didn't seem to care, so i gave up and hid my face. my eyes shut tightly, not wanting to see how far we hand left. the soft fabric of hakus shirt was comforting in a way, so when we hit the water at least it would be like a water bed or something.
though, the feeling of wind rushing past me never stopped the longer time went past. i thought we would've hit the water by now, i was too focused on not paying attention that i did it successfully, too much.
the soft fabric seemed different now, and i screamed harshly as i looked and saw that i was flying through the air with some white dragon. i looked around, confused on where haku went. i pulled myself onto the back of the dragon, holding onto it tightly as i looked around.
"hey! w - where's haku? you damn dragon, go back i think he fell into the water!" i looked around frantically. of course if someone falls into a water from that height i was going to be terrified.
the dragon didn't seem to stop, instead it looked like it was heading towards the pig pen. i cried out again as we landed, immediately pushing against the dragon after i got off. "you. dumb. thing! we should've went back! where did you even come from!?"
i paced around, running to the edge of the cliff side and looking towards the water surrounding the bathhouse. there wasn't any sign of him, and i fell to my knees. he probably died on my watch, my mother was going to kill me.
"she's going to kill me.." i cried, bending over and hiding my face in my knees on the ground. the dragon must have left because i heard nothing from it. i didn't think i'd feel anything for a while, unless someone came looking for me, but i was wrong when hands clasped down on my shoulders.
"why so down? i'm right here." a calm voice spoke. i shot up and turned around, not wasting time to lunge at the boy. "you idiot! where were you?" he chuckled, a shining look in his eyes. "i was with you the whole time. i brought us here."
i didn't know what he meant until i put the pieces together. now i see why my mother was so fond of him. "that's a sick joke! next time at least give someone a sign you're the dragon!" he hummed, smiling like nothing happened.
"i saw no problem with it. you were overreacting." "of course i was! i thought you fell and probably died!" i retaliated, but he said nothing. haku only embraced me once more, laughter leaving him. "i'm sorry i worried you. but now i know you care about me."
i flushed, scoffing. "i was worried, that's all! i would've acted the same if i thought someone fell.." haku pushed some hair from my face, i didn't object to it. "thank you." he said, keeping eye contact with me.
i sighed, nodding as i looked away. "yeah, no problem. listen, sorry about how i was earlier in the office. let me show you around properly, without letting myself fall from a window."
"that would be nice, maybe i could get to know you better along the way." "let's not push it."
