Animal Instincts

Part 6

At Liela's loft her and Xander were on the sofa.

"It's weird , but I like being a cat . I think more than I like being human." She told Xander.

"I know the feeling, but we can't talk like that or really live. " Xander said.

"I guess you're right , but there is a middle ground." Liela said.

Her ears and tail appeared soon after his fox ears and tail appeared. She got up and ran to the bedroom beckoning him to follow. He followed her and began removing her shirt and she then moved to the bed and began playing with their new toys for a while.

"I love you Xander , but I really think we have a problem with control over the animal part of us." Liela said.

"I agree but maybe we should not be fighting it and just let our instincts take over. Yeah you're definitely right . I should go see how my mom's doing you want to come ?" He asked as if holding his hand to a life line.

His mom had been placed in a nursing home a couple months ago as she started to show signs of severe health problems after his dad died.

"Yeah I'll come." Liela answered.

He smiled in relief and then they left and when they arrived at her room she was smiling.

"Hi Liela what a pleasant surprise so I see you haven't messed things up yet Xander." Rosa said.

"Mom I actually wanted to know why you never told me I was adopted?" Xander asked bluntly .

"So I guess it happened." Rosa said.

"You knew !" Liela chimed in.

"Of course I knew. I was best friends with your birth mother Xander , but your father did not know about the fox half of you. Well I wasn't meant to know , but I knew for a long time about your parents and yours as well Liela." Rosa explained.

"What you knew my parents." Liela said in shock.

They both looked at Rosa in shock wanting to know more.

"I almost took both of you in , but your aunt got you and well she's human ,  your dad's sister. As you two got older I was glad I didn't see how close you two got , and yes all of us who took you in knew about the other even if it was only one person. I'm sorry we did not tell you but we promised we wouldn't. " Rosa explained.

"Are Jake and Dean really twins ?" Xander asked.

"Yes , but they each take after one parent judging by your question. I'll guess Dean is a Red panda like his mother and Jake is a cheetah like his father." said Rosa.

"Yeah , so what you're saying is that I'm half human?" Responded Leila.

"No it only takes one parent to be a shifter , but I really don't think we should talk anymore about this here." Rosa explained.

"Alright , but I still don't understand why you didn't tell me I was adopted." Xander said.

"I did my best to protect you and by not telling you I did." Rosa said.

"Xander I'm going to leave. I have to see my mom or my aunt." Liela said and then left.

Xander wanted to go after but figured it was best to give her space , and he also still wanted to talk to his mom more.
