No one slept that night. Well, except for Alec. He slept like a log. Snoring every once in a while. Felix was pacing and Grace kept fiddling with her hair or packing and unpacking. I sat on my bed, still holding the picture. Felix stopped pacing and sat down next to me. He looked down at the picture.
"Who's that?" Felix asked.
"That's my brother Ben and me at my tenth birthday party," I smiled, my eyes landed on Bens laughing, happy face.
"You were cute," Felix said teasingly.
"Were? Gee thanks," I laughed a little.
Felix rolled his eyes and said, "You know what I mean."
I smiled a little and I could feel my throat closing up. I coughed a little.
"Clearly something happened...wanna talk about it?" he asked warily.
"Ben was sent here too. Once he came back, he was changed. He didn't laugh as easily. He died a year ago," I sighed.
"...Oh, I'm sorry," Felix said.

I nodded and grabbed my pillow. Carefully, I put the picture inside the pillow case. I put my pillow back and then laid down. Felix laid down next to me and I looked up at the ceiling. There was a large skylight over my bed. Even with the bars on the glass, i could still see the stars. There were several clouds in the sky. Making the sight even better. I felt my eyes begin to close and soon I was asleep. I'm not sure how long I was asleep, but it felt like forever.

I woke to the sound of someone pounding on the door. Alec grumbled and opened the door. Mr. Coleman stepped in and looked at all of us. Grace was gripping her blanket and Felix was staring at Coleman.
"I'll be back in ten minutes. You all need to get dressed in sweats and a loose shirt," Coleman said strictly.

We nodded and Coleman left. He shut the door behind him. I reached into my bag and pulled out my grey sweats and my black t-shirt. Swiftly, I walked to the bathroom and changed. Once I had changed, I put on my black vans and brushed my hair. Grace changed next, and then the guys. When we were ready, it had been only five minutes.
"What do you think they're gonna do to us?" Grace asked shakily.
"...I, uh, don't know," Alec said, grabbing her hand and kissing her forehead.

Grace closed her eyes and smiled a little. They were so cute. Clearly they both made each other happy. Like the way they look at each other makes me think there is good in the world. That's a very good thought. Sadly, that good thought was ripped away when Coleman walked in. He was holding a clipboard and clicking a blue pen.
"Good...now Grace and Adeline follow me. Felix and Alec, I'll be back in about 20 or so minutes," Coleman said coldly.

Grace looked up at Alec. He kissed her and said something under her breath. Felix looked at me with a twinge of worry in his eyes. I stood up slowly and so did Grace. She was still holding his hand. Coleman sighed with annoyance. I walked towards them and Grace slowly let go of Alec's hand. Before we left, I turned and looked back at Felix. His face turned pale. Felix looked at me and attempted to smile.
"Let's go...now!" Coleman hissed.

We followed Coleman out of the room. He led us down different hallways. Some of them were light and airy and others were dark and scary. Grace's breathing was hallow and shaky. I glanced at her, she was biting her lip and messing with the sleeve on her jacket. Coleman stopped in front of a white door. He checked his clipboard and then opened the door. Coleman gestured for us to enter. Grace didn't move. I cleared my throat and walked in.
"First we're taking blood. Then we're gonna run some...newer tests," Coleman said, scratching his head.
"Like what?" I asked, my mind still stuck on the "newer tests".
"You both basically have the same...disease. You both see dead people. Grace is more of a medium and Adeline, you are well...we've never seen anything like you," Coleman explained.

My blood ran cold and I shivered. Grace sighed and I could tell she was seconds away from crying. I was seconds away from screaming. My mother sent me to a place where experienced people haven't come across a person like me. What the hell?
"Both of you sit. Dr. Harmon will be in a moment," Coleman said.
"Hurray," I said sarcastically.

Coleman huffed and left. Grace sat down in one of the chairs in the center of the room. I sat down in the one next to her. The bright fluorescent lights shone off the white walls, making my head hurt. There was that disinfectant smell too. Ugh, this whole place is just...ugh, I thought bitterly.
