Grace and I were sitting in Dr. Harmon's office. Dr. Harmon was flipping through her notes. She stopped and looked up at us.
"So, when I say you have or show signs of the sixth sense, I mean it. It's a dangerous thing to have. Being able to see things on the other side. Grace, your treatment will be easy. Little pain. Adeline...yours, not so much," Dr. Harmon explained.
"What're you going to do..." Grace mumbled.
"Well...Grace we can do smaller treatments and tests. Nothing to really worry about," Dr. Harmon said, looking down at her notes.
Grace nodded and sighed. Clearly she was relieved.
"And me?" I asked, crossing my arms.
"We need to run some tests. See what you can and can't handle. Then we can start on medications and treatments," Dr. Harmon said, her brown eyes locking on mine.
"Did Ben go through the same things?" I asked.
"Well-"
"Did he or did he not go through what I'm about to go through," I snapped.
"No...his was more," she said.I nodded. So Ben was worse. Ben went through more than me. That's why he got all messed up. Things slowly made sense. Dr. Harmon clicked her pen and sighed. She stood and walked to some cabinets. I watched as she rumaged around and then she turned. Harmon was holding a white box. She sat down and pulled out a bottle. Harmon then wrote in sharpie on the side of the bottle. Once she was done, she handed it to Grace.
"This is what you will take everyday for the next few weeks or until you feel a change. Take it only in the morning when you wake up," Dr. Harmon said.
Grace nodded and then Dr. Harmon handed me a note. I read it over.
Adeline,
I will be running some tests tomorrow. Do not eat after 2:30 this afternoon. I'll get you in the morning.
I looked up at her. She nodded and then told us to go. We stood and left. Grace was shaking slightly. She seemed scared. I was too. Silently we walked back to our room. When we got back, Grace jumped into Alecs arms. Felix looked at me. I walked over to Felix. His eyes were wide.
"What happened?" Felix asked.
"Well, Grace has meds and I have more tests," I sighed, and sat down on my bed.
"Oh...when is she coming for Alec and I?" Felix asked warily.
"Not sure..." I said, rubbing my eyes.
Felix stood and sat next to me on my bed. He wrapped his arm around me and I put my head on his shoulder. I felt him kiss the top of my head. My stomach flipped and I smiled a little.
**************
Alec and Felix came back from their talk with Harmon looking like they had been hit by a bus. Alec went straight to Grace and Felix walked to me. I stood and I hugged him. Felix buried his head in my neck and sighed.
"You okay?" I asked.
"Eh...she said I have to go through injections tomorrow because I'm allergic to the drugs they put in for the meds," he said, moving his head to look at me.
"Thats always fun...at least you can eat," I said.
Felix smiled and his eyes scanned my face. I looked into his sad, brown eyes. Felix changed slightly since we've been here. He got sad and seemed small. His hands were on my waist and he pulled me closer. I smiled and he leaned in. I met him half way and his lips were on mine.
