I wasn't in the Institution anymore. I don't know where I am, but it's not here. It was dark and cold. My eyes tried adjusting but failed.
"Addy!" a voice yelled.
My head whipped around. No one was there.
"Over here," it said.
I whipped around no one.
"Behind youuu," it sang.
Slowly, I turned around. A man was behind me. His eyes were red and his hair black. There was an evil grin plastered onto his face. He saw the fear on my face and laughed. The man snapped his fingers and I was strapped to a chair.
"Addy...Addy...just like Baby Ben...he saw us too. Mainly the Angels. But you, Addy. You see the fun ones," the man said, circling me.
"Don't talk about, Ben," I spat.
"Ooh...we have an attitude. How swell," the man chuckled.
"You know, Baby Ben had one too. He hated me, was scared of me. It was funny, really. They did these tests on Ben. We're gonna become friends. You and me," the man grinned.
I shook my head. Tears welled in my eyes.
"Scared? You should be," he laughed. He then pulled out a knife or something like it. I still can't see more than four feet in front of my face. Suddenly, there was a stab of pain in my thigh. I screamed in pain and the man screamed too.
There was a large popping noise and everything merged together. The man laughed and lunged at me. He reached for my hair and then he was ripped from me. Images flashed before my eyes. First of Ben, then of mom, then of Ben being tortured, and lastly, mom sobbing over our graves.I was plopped back into the Institution. I was restrained to a bed. The doctors in the room rushed over to me. Someone injected something in my arm and I relaxed a little.
"Adeline, are you alright?" Dr. Harmon asked sweetly.
I shook my head no. Tears streamed down my face.
"Adeline, what did you see?" she asked.
I shook my head no. How am I supposed to tell people what I just saw? Yeah a demon talked to me about my dead brother, I thought.
"Tests for today are over. Carl will escort you back to your room. Dinner will be dropped off there. You did good today," Dr. Harmon smiled.I nodded and tried to control my breathing. Everyone left and a man, Carl I guess, unbuckled the restraints and I sat up. He offered his arm and I stood up. Black spots blurred my vision and I gripped his arm.
"Addy? You alright?" Carl asked.
"...Yeah..I'm fine," I said, shaking my head. Then, he led me out of the room and down hallways. Before I knew it, we were standing in front of my room. He opened the door for me and I stumbled in. Everyone's heads snapped up to look at me. Grace's face was red from crying. Alec was emotionless. Felix stared at me with worry. I blinked and stumbled over to my bed.
"Dinner will be dropped off in about ten minutes," Carl said.We all nodded and Carl left. I curled up into a ball on my bed. If this was day one, I don't want to see day two. The tears I had been holding back all day, I let fall. I felt someone grab my shoulder and I curled up into a tighter ball. Tears fell onto the sheets and stained my cheeks.
"Addy...what happened?" Felix asked kindly.
"...demon...Ben...I-I...." I sobbed.
"Shhhh," Felix said.I sat up and wiped my eyes. Felix was kneeling on the ground next to my bed. He looked up at me with sad eyes. My eyes moved away from Felix and over to Grace. Alec had his arms wrapped around her. Her face was buried in his neck. Alec was watching Felix and I. His bright blue eyes looked scared.
"What did they do to you?" Alec asked quietly.
"...They uh...injected me with something. I was sent somewhere...saw this man..." my voice wavered.
"You don't have to talk about it," Felix said, resting his hand on my knee.
I nodded.
"Well, today sucked ass. I'm taking a shower," Alec groaned.Alec got up and went into the bathroom. Grace watched him go. He was only ten feet away but you could tell how much she needed him. Her eyes filled with tears.
