Chapter 14 - Say what?

Kelli's POV

Tonight was the coffee house. Mary wanted to know when she should come.

Kelli: Hey! You coming?

Mary: I don't know. My sister has gymnastics.

Kelli: I could pick you up.

Mary: OMG! Thank you!

Kelli: it's at 5:30 by the way.

Mary: Okay. I'll get ready.

Kelli: Bye. See you at five.

I got dressed and practiced until it was time to go.

Mary's POV

Yas! Kelli is picking me up. I'm so happy. I get to see her perform! I got into a cute black dress with a little sweater and a pair of boots.
"Mom!" I called. "Kelli is picking me up to go to the coffee house." "Awesome." My mother said. "Well, I have to take your sister to gymnastics. Bye." And she left.

Current time 5:00

I suddenly heard a knock on my door, so I ran downstairs. There was Kelli waiting at the door with her mother, Sherry. Kelli was in a cute gray shirt with skinny jeans and wedged heels. She also wore her trademark crescent moon necklace. Pretty as hell.

I opened the door as I walked out. I then texted my mother telling her that she picked me up. We then got in the car.

"So." I said. "There is a surprise guest coming to see you perform." "Can I guess?" Sherry asked. "It's a girl, right?" "Yeah." I said. "Let me guess, Allie." Sherry said. "Yeah." I said. "How did you know?" "I kinda knew." Sherry said.

I could see a look of disgust on Kelli's face. I didn't ask though.

Kelli's POV

I wanted to face palm. Allie. Allie. Could it have been Caitlyn or Hayley? I thought. Just kill me now. I have not liked Allie as a good friend. I was only friendly to her. That's it. All she did was lower my confidence.

It was always in front of Jason. One time, I talk to him. I look to my side and there's Allie. She is all mopey and sulking. Then I walk away. She is happily talking to Jason and bribing him with food.

I just want to say, 'fuck you' and completely rage out on her. It is one reason why Jason isn't answering me when I just want to say a single hello to him from my iPad or phone.

Current time 5:10

We arrived at the school. I bolted out of the car and Mary and I went into the school. It was already dark. I got light headed. "What's wrong?" Mary asked. I shot a worried look. She got my expression. She looked up at the moon bright in the sky. A worried look was drawn across her face.

We quickly ran inside the school and to the cafeteria. I walked up to some friends and said hi. Emma was singing with other people in a group. My cross country teammate, Ben, was doing a joke about a bagel, and so on.

Next thing I knew, Rachel walked in. I ran up to her and gave her a hug. "Hey. You know what today is." She said. "Yeah." I said. "I know. Mary knows too. I remember the pact."

"So, who else is coming?" She asked. My expression changed. "Allie." I said. "Ugh." Then I added, "I hope, Jason."

Then I saw another person come in. It was Allie. I went almost hiding myself and gritted my teeth, let all my anger get out and then went to greet her.

"Kelli." Allie said. " Surprise!" I acted surprised. "Wow." I said sarcastically. "You're here. What a surprise." As if. I thought. Ugh.
The show started and I saw someone come through the door. I didn't pay attention.

Current time 5:40

Tim, the host, came up to announce the first song of the night. "Now, we will get to the music." He said. "Let's put our hands together for Kelli Silvers singing and playing the piano to Mad World by Gary Joules." Applause filled the room.

I walked up to the piano. I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked back and it was Jason. I started to smile, but he put his hand to his mouth with a surprised expression. Say what? I thought. Please don't let him find out.

I looked forwards and sat down at the piano. Hands shaking, I took a deep breath. I felt the keys with my fingers feeling at home again.
I played the starting rift and my nerves calmed. I forgot everything was around me.

I finished the song and there was a roar of applause. I smiled as I took my seat. We were going through many awesome acts. I also did another song. Fix You by Coldplay. It's another one of my favorites. I especially liked the solo I added.

I didn't pay attention to the time. I was having fun listening to the other acts. Joke upon joke, and song upon song. Next thing I knew, I blacked out.

Rachel's POV

"Okay. We will have a brief intermission." Tim said. "There will be more coming. Don't you worry." I looked to my left and saw Kelli lying on the ground. "Mary." I yelled. "Help me now." "Say what?" Mary asked surprised.
