Sarah POV

Again, out here. Searching for something that I am definitely not supposed to be searching for. Oops, damn it. Broke the rules again. Totally not on purpose. Sorry dad, but you'd just hafta deal with it!

I covered my mouth slightly, barely trying to stifle the laugh that was brought up by the thought of his reaction if I actually said that aloud in front of him. But being too loud might just scare it away, so therefore I must hold my tongue and stay silent.

And so I sat there, staring intently at the spot where it'd appeared everyday since our first encounter, waiting for hours, but I never got bored. I never did unless I wanted to, then I'd wail and complain just to pass the time, and of course, to annoy others.

It'll be a waste of a morning if I didn't manage to annoy at least 3 people to the verge of exploding by the end of breakfast! The common victims were Steven, dad, the family chef and dad's manager. Though I must admit, that Steven hardly ever got annoyed, or at least, showed that he was annoyed. So either it's that he's a great actor, or he has a millennia of patience.

The bushes from across the clearing suddenly rustled and a Poochyena jumped out as I rushed to greet it. 'So how have you been?' I asked, it only barked as a response, wagging it's tail happily. We played around for quite some time, until-

'Ms Stone, your father is inquiring your whereabouts, and I believe that he'll want an explanation for why you're outside without his permission, flitting about with a dirty rascal.'

My eyes widened at this voice. Today, I hadn't been careful enough and didn't cover up my absence and the consequence for my neglectful actions was being found by Daniel, dad's bodyguard.

'Come, we must go immediately.' He snapped, leaving no room for further discussion.

He walked briskly, ignoring the overgrown branches, dragging me behind him, constantly tripping over roots in order to try and match his pace. Keyword, "try" I thought miserably.

Arriving at our destination, most kids my age, would've felt dread and fear. But I was not like most kids. Instead, I felt anger and frustration. Why shouldn't I be able to go outside? Everyone else does so why are Steven and I special?

Daniel knocked three times sharply on dad's office door before entering pulling me roughly inside then leaving at dad's approved nod. I noticed Steven also being there, studying some of the books in the corner.

'So, Sarah. I believe you owe me an explanation on why you were outside today without my permission, playing with a...Pokemon.' He said the word with distaste as if it had an unpleasant air to it.

'Okay...I admit that I disobeyed your orders and went outside, but I believe that I wasn't doing anything wrong. Every other person goes outside everyday! So why do we have to stay inside?!' I yelled, the volume growing steadily through every word.

Silence lingered for a while after that, with two pairs of icy-blue eyes bearing into my skin, one that contains nothing but anger and shock, the other filled with concern and confusion. 'Steven, you are excused.' he snapped abruptly, receiving a quick nod. He shot me a puzzled expression as he made his way to the door, leaving me alone with father.

'Now, you know that either you or Steven are meant to inherit Devon when you're older, so you have no need for the world out there, so you just focus on your studies and you'll have a simple, organised life that has no use for silly things like Pokemon.' He spoke in a strained manner, trying to keep the anger out of his voice, even though he radiated the emotion.

'But I don't want to run Devon! I want to see new places! I want to become a Pokemon trainer then travel the world with them!' I countered.

'Those are just mere dreams. Just study the resources I've given you and you'll do fine in life.'

'I don't want my life planned out for me!'

'You will do as I say child. Now for your punishment-'Child?

'Try and make me.'

Silence stretched after my last statement, leaving him staring at me in shock. His glare suddenly intensified, though not completely at me anymore, which worried me, not knowing who he's going to take out his frustration on.

'It must've been that creature that made you so rebellious.' His voice was quiet, the kind that proved to be deadly. He turned to his desk, reaching for his phone. 'I'll have it killed, that Poochyena.'

I was paralyzed with horror. I'd never imagine that he'd go this low. My horror soon turned to fury. 'I can't believe you'd actually do such a thing.' My voice was barely a whisper. 'I'm going.'

He turned sharply, 'You can't go. You'll never survive on your own out there.'

'Why do you even care?' I muttered

'I don't. But you will be necessary for Devon's future.' He shouted.

'Ah, so it's not me you care about, it's your precious company.' I spat before running out the door.

I ran past Steven who was passing through the hall without a word, too angry to care about his anguished calls of my name. Through the front door, into the rain that had just began to fall without a glance back.

I'll show him, I'll show him how much this child can do. I will achieve all my goals and show him how wrong he is and how powerful I can become without him in my life.

Actually, why become a Pokemon trainer when you can train legendaries?

Yes, that's what I'll become. A legendary trainer, the most powerful in the world, the one who befriends and controls legendaries. Then he won't be able to tell me what to do, I'll have more influence than him, I'll be the best leader throughout all of history.
