"Wow, Amy I-"
I hug him before he finishes and he hugs me back.
"Wait! The saliva, isn't it going to harm you?"
"Umm.." I forgot about it actually, "I don't think so, I mean it wasn't a big amount so I guess it's fine. It was worth it, anyway..." Did I say that out loud?
He smiles. Yup, I definitely said it out loud.
"Wait a second, I need to get the poison. If that fucker thinks he can just run away with my work he is so wrong. Take him to the room on the right!"
It sounds like my father. Suddenly we hear the door handle move.
"Quick, Amy! Behind the closet!" Dylan whispers and takes my hand. The closet isn't too adjacent to the wall and me and Dylan are in a good shape so we can get in there. There's a lot of dust here, but it doesn't matter now that the door is open and we hear footsteps approaching.
"Ricin, Ricin..." He opens a few drawers in the closet. "Ah, there you are."
Ricin. It's a poison. One that cannot be identified. One that can kill people within two days. I'm not surprised my father has it. He probably even used it on people before. Dylan and I are still holding hands. And when I realize what my father is looking for I squeeze his hand harder. Who does he want to kill?
"Be ready, you asshole. Trying to steal my fucking work. This perfection called Amy Riches is mine. And mine only."
Dylan and I look at each other and he circles his thumb on my hand to reassure me.
We finally hear my father's footsteps as he leaves the room. The door closes and we both let out a sigh of relief.
"Amy, he is about to kill someone."
"You know what Ricin is?"
"Don't underestimate a cop."
"So... This room is some kind of a.. lab?"
"Apparently. There are probably other types of poison here. Fucking gross."
And then I think about it again.
Ricin. It's perfect.
"Dylan, I may have an idea how to get out of here."
"Out of the room?"
"No, Dyl," I roll my eyes, "out of this house."
