"I would love too." I said feeling butterflies erupt in my gut. I felt myself falling down a rabbit hole of feelings that pulled at my heart uncontrollably. The anticipation of finding out If he was my mate grew uncontrollably. I wanted to reach out and touch him right here in this garden.

"Perfect. I will meet you in the corridor at 8 tomorrow night." He spoke with such allure. I was undeniably attracted to him. He walked away looking back slightly to leave me with the memory of that bright smile of his. I stood there delirious as I watched him turn the corner disappearing among the flowers. I couldn't wrap my head around it. Tomorrow night I might find my mate. Someone who will never hurt me and who I won't have to be afraid of. I deserve love too.

Across the field, loud noises of screaming could be heard. It sounded like war. My mind immediately flashed back to the time of the attack on my previous pack. Images of dead bodies and terror flashed through my mind. I refuse to run away from the chaos this time around; I'm going to confront it head on.

I ran quickly to the source of the noise to see a crowd of warriors clustered into a big circle. As I slowed down and made my way deeper into the crowd, my assumptions were deflated. Sparring with another man, Adonis flexed and relaxed his muscles as he swung and cut through the air effortlessly. His body gleamed of sweat as he moved with power. Although it was clear he held back, his opponent was brutally beaten. One of his eyes were sealed shut resembling a plum. He struggled to heal as he received blow after blow. Blood leaked from the cuts and bruises throughout his body. I have never seen sparring that was so brutal and relentless. The warrior was on the brink of death it seemed. Alpha Adonis seemed to be taunting him, he enjoyed this. Finally, he pinned the man down until he passed out.

The crowd roared with howls and cheer as the man was dragged out of the circle like a bag of rice. His eyes met mine as if he had known I was watching this whole time. My eyes found his lips as he mouthed the words "You're next" above the noise of the warriors who watched.

Everything in me wanted to run but this is what I asked for. I needed to be strong. I stepped into the circle as I faced him. I could hear the audience instigating all around me with insults and whispers. I kept my fist knotted to my sides to seem stronger, really, I did it so they would stop trembling so much. I stood there in my stretchy skinny jeans and my oversize tee as he stood their arms crossed and eyebrow raised. Watching me.

"Let's go Alpha." I said awaiting my death.

"I admire your bravery love. But you're not fighting me. That would be unfair." He said showing his sharp canines as he smiled. The warriors laughed uncontrollably around me." Today you will fight a female warrior. Start small pup."

"Any volunteers?" I spoke loudly into the crowd. I wanted to get this over with. Out from the crowd stepped the woman from yesterday dressed in a black spandex jumpsuit and heeled black boots. Before she could get too close, Adonis stood in front of me. "Belle, I'm warning you..." He said looking into her eyes.

"Let her come." I said with confidence. She walked swaying her hips until she was close enough for her tall frame to tower above me. I could feel the Adonis' eyes on me as we waited for his Que to start.

"Spar!" He roared as his alpha tone traveled through my rattled bones. Before I knew it, her fist flew out breaking my nose on impact. A sea of red spewed out staining my shirt. She stood there hunched over laughing as I covered my nose with my hands. She didn't challenge me for training alone, she wanted to humiliate me. Through the haze of pain, I could see her high fiving her colleagues in the crowd as they cackled. Adonis stood to the side arms crossed focused on me. He was the only who didn't make the mistake of underestimating me. I have been underestimated, under loved, and overlooked my whole life. I've made a decision that I will win this fight and I will become the Alpha I am meant to become. I'm going to claim the pack that rejected me if it's the last thing I do.

I walked over now letting the blood seep freely down my face as I tapped her on the shoulder. She turned around still filled with arrogance. I grabbed her head smashing mine into hers like a boulder into a melon. I may not know how to fight properly but I did know pain, abuse, and survival. I dragged her to the middle of the ring before sitting on top of her and throwing endless blows to her face. As I attacked her relentlessly, her bones cracked beneath me. I thought my punches were the cause of those cracks until beneath me lied a ginger wolf with eyes of fury.

I couldn't shift as I didn't want to expose my true form but if I stayed in my human form, I would be dead in a heartbeat. Her wolf threw me off before pounding on my human form. Her paw landing deep into my thighs pinning me deeper into the dirt before she swung her claws reaching for my face.

I pushed my forearms in front of me, feeling her nails dig in and rip out leaving jagged cuts. I could feel her weight lifted off me as my body curled up into the ground.

"She's lost too much blood." Someone said in the distance.

Thick arms slid beneath me hoisting me up and rushing me away from where I laid defenseless on the floor. Through my watery eyes, I could see her wolf squirming in pain underneath the Alpha's human grasp. He was livid. I could hear the distant voice of May running behind the person carrying me. For once I was proud of myself. Even though I was afraid, I remained strong. It was clear to me that I wasn't that girl that left my pack a few days ago. I was an Alpha. I grinned as the corners of my vision began to fade into obsidian darkness before I was completely consumed by peace.
