Chapter Six💖

I dedicate this chapter to all my readers, thank you all for your support. I really appreciate you all.

It was a cool morning I hopped out of bed and quickly dressed up for school.

I smiled remembering who I was expecting later in the day. I just hoped that my lesson goes well.

The street was  scanty as we drove. We passed only a few students on the way. I hopped out of the car before the car zoomed off.

I was always dropped off at school by my driver. It was only once in a while that Mom or Dad  dropped me at school .

The term was gradually going.
We marched into our class after the assembly. It was a brief one as it was a gender assembly. One which was meant for girls only.

I submitted my assignments to our class rep. Mr. Ben our agricultural science teacher came in for the first period.

We copied notes on farm buildings. It reminded me of my Grandma.

The class was noisy ,we had civic education but our teacher wasn’t around. Our class rep had  reported to the principal. He sent words that he would be coming to our class soon.

Our principal came into our class with a young lady. I was speculating the young lady  to be a new teacher. She looked really beautiful  in her corper uniform.

We all stood up to greet them. The principal motioned us to sit down after answering us.

"She is a Corper, she is going to be serving in this school" he began. "Her name is Anita Madu. She will be teaching you Civic  education . Your teacher is on an official assignment" he paused.

"You are welcome ma" We chorused.

It was a custom we always accorded to new teachers.
A smile graced her face shortly after the principal left.

"Well, good day once again class. Like the principal said I am Miss Anita Madu" she spoke softly.

The class became noisy.

"So she hasn’t married" I heard Amanda asking Chichi her seat mate .

"It’s okay class" she said in a calm manner. The class became silent again.

Trust Amaka, she still kept on  talking in hushed tones.

We all introduced ourselves to her in turns using the remaining period.

"See am jealous of you oo" Benita  pouted.

"Me too" Rachel said.

I just told them about my lesson teacher. It seems they now envied me.

"May be we will be joining you soon oo.    You better pay attention because you will teach us everyday too" Benita said holding  her right ear for emphasis.

"Okay madam" I said laughing out loudly.

I just prayed the lesson goes well

I knew Benita and Rachel meant their words. I quickly brought up another topic.

"So tell me how are your  siblings Ike and Amby ".  I said facing Rachel.

Almost immediately,  everyone scurried back to their seats. Someone apparently sighted Mr.  Kunle from afar and informed  the class.He came some  minutes ago,  warning us not to make noise. But as soon as he left the class became noisy.

Eventually he did arrive. Nancy was unlucky today. Mr. Kunle's face  was frowned as usual. I wonder if he ever laughs.

He peeped into the class through the window. Nancy was still talking in hushed tones. She laughed out uncontrollably at what I didn't know.

It took a while before she stopped. All eyes were now on her.  Am sure she didn't know when he arrived.

"Nancy,  come with me. Didn't you hear  me when I said no noise" he roared.

She walked away reluctantly with Mr. Kunle.
"You will be my scape goat, an example for all" he concluded. 

Amaka's  face was dull. Nancy was one of her faithful minions. Nancy was second to last overall in position every term.

Birds of the same feather flock together .

  I just laughed inwardly. The once noisy class was  silent now. I continued reading my books. 

It was time for break. 
I  wasn't going to the cateen
same for Benita and  Rachel.
We all agreed on bringing snacks from home today. It was all Benita's  idea. They pulled chairs beside me to seat down. I had already placed  fanta and pure bliss biscuits on my table  .

Benita brought out her chocolate, biscuits and Pepsi that was in a leather bag. Rachel was already eating her cupcake with fanta bottle on  my  table.

We ate silently observing table manners. I wiped my mouth with my handkerchief immediately I finished eating. We finished eating almost at the same time.

The class was scanty  as most of the students were outside. Some boys were already in the school field playing football. 

"So did you guys watch  yesterday's episode of Jenifa's Diary on AIT? "  Benita asked us.

"Yesterday I didn't have time I was quite busy" Rachel said. 

I  didn't want to do much explanations so I just said same.

"Okay oo incase you don't know you missed alot"  she said in a funny voice. She narrated yesterday's  episode of  Jenifa's Diary to us.

We later discussed about random things before the bell rang. The rest of the day  well until it was closing time.
