Chapter 8 - Just a Friend to You

Skye's P.O.V

It's been about a week since I started staying with Kiri. Things have gotten a lot better. The notes and "gifts" have almost completely stopped. Almost the entire school is starting to see the real me and not what my past defined me as. I even earned a provisional license. I ended up telling Katsu, Denki, and Sho Sho what happened. Deku overheard but respected me enough not to tell anyone. Hell, I would even consider us friends now. There was only one problem. I've started to grow to care for Kiri. More than he does for me. Not in the way he cares about me. I... I think I've fallen in love with him. There's no way I can ever tell him though. I would make things awkward. Everything would get weird and I would lose him.

I was lost in thought but also somewhat aware of the class around me.

"Dude just asked her out," Denki said

"I don't know man," Kiri said, "I don't wanna make things awkward."

I turned my full attention to their conversation but made sure I still looked spaced out.

"You're the one always spouting about being manly," Denki told him "Look, you didn't hear this from me but she always seems happiest when you have your arm around her or you're holding her hand. I always see her staring at you in some sort of fantasy world."

I blushed like crazy as Denki outed me and my crush.

"You know what, I'm gonna do it." he said, "I'm gonna ask her out."

"Um, Skye" Deku said from in front of me, snapping my focus to him

Kirishima's P.O.V

I walked towards Skye to ask her out but stopped when I saw Deku was already talking to her

"Um, Skye" Deku said to her "I-I was wondering if you w-wanted to go on a date some time."

"Deku... that's so nice"

I felt my heart sink. I was just about to leave until I heard he finish her sentence.

"But I don't see you like that. I love someone else. I really hope that this doesn't make things awkward and we can still be friends."

"Uh, s-sure" he stuttered "I didn't know you like someone. Who's the lucky person?"

"D-don't tell anyone" she stuttered shyly and began to look around if anyone was paying attention

I quickly pretended to be playing on my phone.

"That's him" she pointed

I peeked up from my phone to see Deku staring right at me. I gave a small wave and pretended not to have heard when Skye said. She blushed bright red and looked away.

"You should tell him" I heard Deku say sincerely "I heard him talking to Denki about being too nervous to ask a girl out. Looking at his behavior lately, it's most likely you."

Skye's P.O.V

I blushed at the thought of him liking me back and thought back onto how he acts around me. He doesn't hold hands with anyone but me and always puts his arm around me. The only other person he does that to is Katsu but it's different from me. With Katsu, it's almost like he's leaning on him but with me, he sorta pulls me into him. That's when I remembered when he found me in my dorm last week. He... he kissed me. I mean it was just on my forehead but it was still a kiss!

I looked up and realized he was right in front of me. I went to turn to Deku for help but he was already talking to Sho Sho on the other side of the room. Wait a second, he's... blushing. Is he talking about me or is he g-

"Hey Skye" Kiri said energetically

"H-hi Kiri," I smiled at him with a small blush

"I wanted to ask you something," he said, scratching his neck nervously

"Yeah?" I asked, biting back my excitement

"Hey Tiny, hey Shitty Hair," Katsu said while walking up to us "What's up?"

"Nothing," I mentally sighed as I said it but didn't let it show "Can you go get me a strawberry Ramune?"

"Tch, you're lucky your like a sister to me" he scoffed as he walked off "I wouldn't do this for anyone else."

"So what was it you wanted to ask me?" I asked Kiri, trying to tame the thoughts in my head

He blushed heavily "I-I wanted to ask... uh, well, I-I was wondering........ what did you get on the last test?"

I frowned slightly but put my smile back on before he could notice "I got a perfect score!"

"That's great!" he smiled "Th-that was it"

He began to walk off and I panicked a little, not wanting him to leave.

"Why won't you just ask me on a fucking date, Baka!" I yelled, not realizing when I said till after I said it

The entire class turned to face us. My face was a tomato and he practically matched his hair.

"I told you so!" Sho Sho and Denki both yelled at him at the same time

"Um, s-sorry" I blushed "I-it k-kinda just came out."

"No, d-don't be," he blushed "I was going to... but I chickened out."

"W-well... I-I'm right here." I stuttered

"W-wanna go on a date with me... t-tonight?" he asked

"Baka," I huffed while looking away and blushing "I-I'd love to" I mumbled

"What'd I miss?" Katsu asked, walking into class with my drink

"N-nothing," I stuttered with a red face

"You're so damn weird" he chuckled and handed me my drink
