Chapter 12 - Secrets Pt. 2

Deku's P.O.V

Our class was gathered in the lounge watching the news.

"Excuse me miss," Shinso said to the newscaster, with some girl next to him.

"Wait, what's he doing? It's past curfew." I asked, talking mainly to myself

"Can I help you?" she asked

"Yeah, give me that mic and step aside." the woman did as he said and he took the mic, looking into the camera "This is a message for U.A. so listen up. We're joining the league. Before you ask, no. We weren't kicked out of U.A. We didn't fail. We're not being forced to leave. We just... left. You people decided to treat us like villains, now we're gonna show you what real villains look like. And before you get any ideas about coming after us or trying to change our minds, just know this. If you do anything that we don't like, the blood of a certain little blond boy will be on your hands."

He finished talking and one of Kurogiri's portals opened behind them. They stepped through and the newscaster blinked out of Shinso's brainwashing and signaled the cameraman to cut the feed.

"What the hell is this?!" Katsu raged at the screen

"Kacchan, relax" I tried to calm his down.

"Don't tell me what to do you stupid nerd!" he yelled at me

I sighed and walked off to the kitchen but froze when I saw Skye sitting on the counter.

"When did you sneak off?" I asked

"That girl that was with him," she said, staring at the ground "Her name is Nova Hyde. Since I didn't try to, you know, kill everyone when I came to U.A., the school decided to give more villain kids a chance here. Nova was the one they brought into U.A. after I came. They may not say it, but I know what they're thinking. 'If one villain kid was a traitor, does that mean all of them are?'"

"They would never think that about you!" I tried to tell her

"Thanks, but you're just don't get it. Can't you see?" she scoffed "They only like me because I give them a reason to like me. You really think if I didn't smile and act all buddy-buddy with all of them that they'd actually still care. You of all people should know about what it's like."

"What do you mean?" I asked

"Any of them are only your friend because you have a strong quirk. Before you got your quirk, how exactly were you treated? Huh I guarantee you that if you go out there, they're already making a plan to get Shinso back even though Mirio is in danger if they do. No one cares about the quirkless or the weak. No one cares about anyone who wasn't born to be a hero." she rolled her eyes

"You're wrong!" I yelled

"Am I? Go back out there then. Go see just what their conversation is about."

"I will" I huffed and walked back out to the lounge "I'm b-"

"We'll get Eyebags back and talk some sense into him," Kacchan said

"What about Mirio?" Ochaco asked "They have him hostage"

"We still have to go" he huffed, several other students nodding in agreement

I sighed and went back into the kitchen.

Bakugo's P.O.V

"We'll just have to make sure they don't know we're there so they don't hurt him. We'll rescue him and get the girl too. We can't just turn our backs on them. They're only lashing out because they think we only see them as villains. We gotta prove to them that they're wrong."

Deku's P.O.V

"You were right" I sighed

"I know I was," she said and let out a long sigh, pulling her knees into her chest "I miss uncle Shigi. I miss Tomo and all of them. They cared about me. It didn't matter what side I wanted to pick or whether I had a strong quirk or not. They were just... there."

"I'm starting to think Shinso had a point," I sighed in defeat "I kinda wanna follow his lead"

"Well, what stopping you?" she asked, "These people hurt us so why not hurt them back?"

"Wait, are you serious?!" I asked in shock

"You're right," she said shaking her head "I'm being crazy. Being a hero means helping others even if all they do is hurt you....... I'm just a bit tired of always being hurt."

"Yeah...." I said, now unsure what side to take.

All the times I was told I would never be a hero echoed in my head as I began to get lost in my thoughts.

"I'll be back," I told everyone "I'm just heading to the store"

While I was walking I spotted Shigaraki in an alleyway. Hesitantly, I followed him as he walked into an abandoned building.

"Deku!" Toga cheered "I'm so happy to see you!"

"So you came after all? Guess the boss was right." Dabi said

"Why are you here?" Shigaraki asked, placing four fingers on my shoulder

"I... I was considering joining you guys." I admitted, "I'm not so sure though."

"I see," Shigaraki said, taking his hand off of me "We'd be happy to take you in if you decide to join us."

"I probably wouldn't fight though.... And I definitely don't want to kill anyone," I said

"That's fine by us," he said

"Really? You'd accept me into your group even if I didn't do anything for you guys and would most likely cause you trouble?" I asked... lost in thought about what Skye said

"Of course." Shigaraki said "Why wouldn't we?"

"I've decided," I told him "I'll join you."

!!!!!!'s P.O.V

"Your plan worked," Nova said into the phone "The broccoli boy decided to join as well."

"Good, have him stay in U.A. for now" I ordered "And Tomo didn't slip up? He told him that he was welcome no matter what right?

"Yeah," she said "You were right. That was the only thing he needed to hear to take our side. I guess you really made him fell unwanted as a hero then."

"It was the only way to get a wannabe hero like him to cross over. What about the Hive? Are they onboard?" I asked

"Yes" she replied

"And the brainwashing one, where's he?" I asked

"He's even more serious about this than any of us expected. He's transferred to K.U. High School. As far as I hear he's already made it to the top of his class." she explained

"Not surprising, given his quirk. When's it happening?"

"Tomorrow"

"Everything's ready?"

"Yes," she confirmed "And you'll keep your end of the deal, right? You'll get my parents out of jail?"

"Of course Nova. After all, a person is only as good as their word" I ensured her.

I hung up and smirked to myself
