chapter thirteen_ meeting the Jones

Veronica's POV

I dialed my mother's number as soon as I got out of the train station, just to tell her that I finally had arrived after two flights and one train trip. She picked up as soon as I pushed the call bottom.

"Oh Ronnie are you Ok?" She asked
"Hey mom. Yeah I just arrived and I'm fine. You sound nervous mom; is everything Ok?"
"Yes, it is. It's just the first time you're away from me . I'm a mother, getting worried is my job "
"It's Ok mom, I'm in Riverdale , I'm safe and there's nothing to be worried about "
"Fine. Don't forget to pick up your phone when I call you and call me every night before you go to bed "
"Mom! I'm not a five_ year  old "
"To me you always are "
"Ok mom I should go. I'll call you later "

I hung up the phone and sat in the taxi to go to uncle Gustavo's house. When we arrived, I paid the driver, took my suitcase and went to knock on the door. Soon my uncle opened the door and after watching me for a few seconds, he gave me a huge smile.

"Veronica! Is that you?" He said in a excited tone
"Hi uncle Gustavo, can I come in ?"
"Yeah sure. Come in. Let me help you "

He opened the door wider and helped me bring in my suitcase. We went to the kitchen and I asked him to give me a glass of water.

"So, it's been a long time since the last time I saw you" he said, handing me the glass of water
"I know. Actually, after everything dad did to us, I decided to stay away from this town, all the memories and everything that remained me of my past. But it seems like you can't remove your past; it'll always haunt you "
"Ok, I understand. Sometimes all you have to do is leaving everything behind and make a new life. Where did you make yours?"
"Somewhere far from here; in Phoenix. It's an actual city with no drama "
"Sounds good. So,what is so important that you decided to come to Riverdale ?"
"Uhmm, actually the only reason I came back is Vivian. I do need to find her uncle Gustavo"
"Veronica, I already told you that she left the town months ago. I really don't know where she is. I try to ask her address every time we talk but she doesn't tell me a thing. Veronica, tell me the truth; is she in danger?"
"No, not at all. I don't know how to say that. She's done something terrible and now someone is in danger because of her "
"How is that possible? She can never do anything that puts others' lives in danger. That's not my daughter "
"Well, I'm not sure about that because right now, someone in Phoenix is fighting for his life, because of Vivian "
"Who is that person?"
"I can't say, I promised and I don't want to risk his life. I just want to talk to Vivian and ask her why "
"She's been in a bad situation too. She got in a toxic relationship and got pregnant. After that the father took the baby and left. We're still looking for him. She's not in a good mindset but I'll help you find her. Are you sure you don't wanna tell me who he is?"
"He's my current boyfriend. He's not in a good situation, not at all and I can't just see him getting worse every day. I can't see the man I love, the best person I've ever seen in my life, trying to kill himself because of the depression that is caused by Viv . Uncle Gustavo, I just want to talk to her, nothing more and I'll never come back here once I'm done. She's safe "
"Ok I'll talk to her and convince her to call you. Is it good? "
"Perfect! I'll wait for you or her to call me "

After that I stood up and took my purse to leave.
"Wait, are you leaving Ronnie?" He asked
"Yeah, I still have a lot to do and I really don't want to stay in Riverdale for a long time, so the sooner I'm done, the sooner I'll go back to Phoenix"
"Do you anywhere to stay here?"
"Of course I do. "Five seasons " was my second home when I used to live here, so that's where I'm going "
"Ok ,at least let me take you there "
"I'm not going there now. I have to meet FP Jones. Is he still the sheriff?"
"Yeah, I'll take you to the station "
"Thanks "

He then went to his room and came back in a suit. We went to his garage and he headed to the sheriff's station. When we arrived there ,he stopped to face me.
