Once again, I sit on the edge of my bed as I carefully put on my high heels. I sigh at the thought of the pain I'll have to go through tomorrow morning. I quickly put on my lip gloss as I ask my personal helper what time it is.

It's 5:30 pm.

I stand from my bed as I hear a knock on my door and Mia enters my room. I'm still getting used to the long hair used to make a fancy bun. It almost feels normal as I put on a fake smile. "Hey Mia."

"Hey," she says quietly. Her dark brown eyes study my face. She can see through my act. Mia slowly walks up to me and I let her give me a tight hug.

As she pulls away, her voice is gentle and her eyes shining tenderly. "Have fun for me, will ya?"

"Of course," I say as I let a wide smile start at my lips. "I can party."

She chuckles and raises her hand at one side of my room. Almost immediately, a few earrings that Christina left for me at my mini living room comes floating towards us. With ease, Mia catches it with her hand and starts putting it on my ears.

"Show off," I say playfully.

We both laugh at this as she finishes off. Like everyone else, she carries pride whenever she sees me. But she can read through me. She knows I'm afraid. She knows my performance all too well. Though she is quite a cheerful person, she carries this different kind of strength that's stronger than Emms. It's pure and vulnerable at the same time.

I feel this when she gives my arm a gentle squeeze and gives me a smile showing off dimples. "Sometimes you find the truth when you least expect it. It's okay to be afraid. Perhaps...the truth will come out by itself. For now feel free with the only truth that you have."

"Which is?"

Mia stands straighter and her bouncy curls shine as bright as her eyes when she says, "You're not alone. For what it's worth...you'll always have me."

The moment she says this, my arms embrace her warm body tightly. I let my chin rest on her shoulder at the comfort of her embrace. "Thank you. For everything, Mia." I quickly dry my tears and pull away gently. It's funny how alone I tend to feel sometimes. It almost seems like a loneliness I carried with me in the life I had before. If only I knew the truth about me.

That's probably why I'm doing this. I need to know who I really am. Who the real Kat is. Though at night, my body feels cold at the thought of the old life I had. What if I decided to start over? What if the person I was before was worse than who I am now? What if I would have never liked that person? My cold hands are the reflection of who I used to be.

The sound of my door opening brings me back to reality as we watch Nikki come in. She smiles at Mia and says, "Do we look okay, Miss?" She, too, added some makeup to her face, making her cheeks brighter. The dark eyeliner gives her a stronger resemblance.

"You guys look great!" Mia says as she walks up to Nikki. "Dom must be impressed." For the first time, I chuckle at the way Mia playfully smirks at Nikki.

This makes Nikki roll her eyes and shake her head. "Whatever you say, lady. Uh..I just came to say that it's almost time." She gives me a firm nod and waits for me at my door.

"Okay. Let's go." And with that, the clicking of my heels echo in my room as I make my way through the wooden hallway. Ready to put on a show.

"You look great," I tell Sam quietly. He gives me a smile. His eyes shining beautifully even in the darkness of the night.

His mouth comes near my ear sending shivers down my body. "And you look beautiful."

"They're here."

Dom stands up from the front steps and points towards the sky. I look behind me to see my friends and family carefully watching us from the window. Despite our strength, we all take one last fearful look back at the house as the flying vehicle gently lands on the lawn. A few neighbors have come out to observe the scenario with curiosity. The moment we start walking towards the vehicle, a neon force field surrounds our path from the outside world. It is only a neon blur now.
