It was not a rare occurrence for Yamaguchi to recall what his grade school bullies often told him. Nearly every time he gazed at his reflection in the mirror, He'd frown at the sight of his freckles. He always figured that maybe he'd attract attention from girls if he just didn't have them and maybe he'd be more popular in general if he wasn't cursed with the small brown dots littering his cheeks.

So, when high school had ended and Yamaguchi went off to college, he began to cover his freckles with foundation. He wasn't so sure of himself when he thought about doing this but after finally deciding to go out and buy the makeup, he figured he'd try it anyway. Although it was true that through his highschool years he had gained a lot more confidence, he just couldn't shake the insecurities fully and this was his final option.

now, as he stared in the mirror and applied the foundation to his cheeks, he almost felt.. ashamed of himself. It wasn't because he was putting on makeup but rather that he was giving in to his fears by trying to get rid of the 'problem'. Regardless of that feeling though, he decided to attend his classes that morning and try to ignore the strange feeling until he was used to it. This was what he wanted after all, right?

One thing Yamaguchi hadn't taken into account was that he had a little admirer. Y/N had noticed Yamaguchi on their first day of college classes and she was immediately drawn to him due to his unique appearance. She thought that Yamaguchi was one of the prettiest boys she had ever seen and she had to give the credit to his freckles for that. She just adored them and wanted nothing more than to be able to tell the shy male that.

Y/N often spent her days watching him and although she knew it'd probably look super creepy if he ever caught her, she just couldn't help it. Yamaguchi thought no one would notice the fact that he started covering his freckles and for the most part, he was right. No one commented on the change because no one paid attention to him enough to care. But Y/N cared. And she was quite upset. She noticed the very first day that he had done it and she was very surprised by the change. Mostly though, she was sad.

After watching this happen for a few days, Y/N had grown tired of it and decided she needed to say something about it. So once she had worked up enough of her courage, she approached Yamaguchi after one of their classes which lead them into their current situation.

"W-What?" Yamaguchi looked up from putting his things away and watched the H/C haired girl loom over his desk, her cheeks dusted pink which contrasted the upset look on her face. He had to admit that she was quite cute but he was at a complete loss of words as to why she was so upset with him. He knew she was in his class but he had never actually spoken to her so what could he had possibly done?

"I asked why." You huffed, crossing your arms over your chest as your cheeks darkened a bit. Yamaguchi had begun to play with his fingers, avoiding eye contact as he still wasn't comfortable with a confrontation like this. "I-I'm sorry but Uhm... I have no idea what you mean.." He answered truthfully which only made you more upset. You took a deep breath and decided this was one of those leap of faith moments that your friends had always told you about.

Hesitantly, you lifted one of your hands after uncrossing your arms. You carefully cupped his cheek with your palm which made him jump in surprise as he hadn't expected the sudden contact.  "You've been covering them up.. why?" Your face was burning a bright red and you could tell he was blushing heavily as well. He looked up at you with wide eyes full of awe, finally understanding what you meant.

"W-Well I.." He tried to find a way to explain without dropping a whole sob story on you but he couldn't find out how which resulted in him just stuttering quietly as he continued to play with his fingers. Your gaze softened as you watched him freak out and with a sigh, you slowly started to rub your thumb over his cheek, wiping away the foundation little by little until you could see his freckles ghosting through the makeup. Your actions only made him more flustered.

"You don't have to explain.." You sighed softly and pulled your hand back before digging around in your bag. You pulled out a pack of baby wipes you carried around for hygiene purposes and moved to sit on the table in front of him. "You shouldn't cover them up.. They're really cute.." You muttered softly as you pulled out one of the wipes and began to clean the makeup off of his face.

"You don't think they're weird..?" He asked shyly, closing his eye as you gently rubbed the wipe over his still bright red cheeks. You looked into his eyes and furrowed your eyebrows, giving him a look of genuine confusion as you finished wiping off the last of the makeup. "Not at all. Why would anyone think that?"  His face flushed red all over again and he started to stutter once more. "W-Well when I W-Was little I-I got bullied..." His voice sounded so hurt and soft, it made you frown.

You set the baby wipes aside and started to dig in your bag again. Yamaguchi watched you carefully and his eyes widened as he watched you pull out a pen. You uncapped the writing utensil and turned to look at him again. "Do you trust me..?" You asked, holding eye contact again. Slowly, Yamaguchi nodded and flinched a little as you scooted closer and held the pen up to his face.  "Close your eyes." You commanded and he quickly complied, his nose scrunching up a bit as his eyes fluttered shut.

a soft smile graced your face at how cute he looked. restoring your concentration, you delicately began to draw on his cheeks, him making a small squeak like sound at the feeling of the pen gliding over his smooth skin. You giggled softly and continued to draw, connecting the dots carefully as well as adding small smiley faces to the shapes you created. after about a minute, you had finished with the doodles and pulled away slowly. "You can open your eyes now." His eyes fluttered open and he moved to touch his cheeks but you stopped him. "No, the ink could smudge, and then it will be ruined."

"S-Sorry.." He apologized quietly and watched you pull a small makeup mirror out of your bag as well. You flicked open the small item and watched as his eyes widened upon seeing his face. You had drawn little constellations using his freckles to resemble stars. The small faces on some of the more defined shapes made him smile softly and yet another blush covered his cheeks when he noticed the small hearts you had drawn all around as well.

"Your freckles are beautiful, just like stars. You should never be ashamed of them because they make you more unique and adorable... anyone who says otherwise is just jealous that they weren't blessed with as good of looks as you have." You complimented him with a light blush of your own before you grabbed his wrist and used the pen to write down your name and number on his forearm. "Here... If you ever feel down about this again then just text or call me. Id love to help."

Yamaguchi was left speechless as he watched you quickly put away your things and hop off the desk. You were gone before he even had the chance to say anything else but regardless of your quick departure, you left him feeling better about himself then he had felt in a very long time and he didn't dare to touch the writing on his cheeks until he had arrived home and took a shower. He made sure to text you before the pen was washed away though and you happily added him into your contacts under the cutest name you could think of
