Spinel
I didn't want to wake up.
But being shoved into a fountain of water tends to make you panic. I have no clue where I am or what has happened. The last thing I recall is being in the garden. I push myself through the surface of the water, trying to get my eyes open as soon as possible.
"Spinel! You're okay!"
I hear Steven's voice coming closer. Rubbing the water out of my eyes, I realize that I am still standing waist deep in water. After blinking a few times I gather my thoughts and try to get my spatial awareness back.
He holds out a hand at the edge of the pool.
Finally feeling somewhat at ease I take his hand. He helps pull me out of the pool, and I stand there soaking wet on the concrete around it. Garnet walks over from one of the benches, and hands me a towel. I toss it over my shoulders, still confused as to what is going on?
"What happened? Where are we?"
I ask, using the corner of the towel to wipe the water off of my face. When I pull the material back, it is stained with black eye liner.. I feel my pig tails falling out, as they continue to drip with water. Oh yeah I bet I look like a mess.
"We are at Rose's fountain." Garnet says, standing next to Steven. I look around, the garden is in much better upkeep than the old one. I look around, vines encasing the area, most likely to keep it hidden. Statues of a Rose Quartz are placed all around the bubbling fount.
"We're on Earth?!" I say exasperated. "What happened to Homeworld?" I subconsciously rub the top of my gem, feeling tense, but no longer in pain. "Did you stop the injector? Where are the Diamonds?" My questions are adding up much quicker than the answers to them.
"Everything is okay, lets go back home and we'll explain." Garnet says, ready to leave the fountain. "Well, I guess that fountain actually worked against the poison." I point out, happy to know that Steven is no longer in danger. He smiles at my statement, all though his eyes hide some sadness to his expression.
What is going on?
We leave the area, making a quick journey back to the Steven's home. "Okay, so there were a few complications when it came to the injector." Garnet starts. Steven sighs almost in agreement. How would he know? Has Garnet already told him? How long was I out?
"The injector went off on Homeworld."
It felt as if time had halted.
It's all my fault. If only I had ran away. Now everything I had is gone. The Diamonds, Homeworld, where am I supposed to go? I did all of this. I was too late. I don't know what to say. And if I did I don't know how to say it.
"But we have a plan to save it." Garnet replies, making her way to the exit of the house. I kinda stumble on our behind her and Steven. His face showing the expression of bittersweet determination. I wonder if he is only acting, just to hide the fact that he is most likely mad with me.
"Spinel!"
The Diamonds shout, standing just outside of the balcony. I almost fall backwards in surprise. But my shock and sadness are dampened when I see that they are okay. "We are so glad that you are better now!" Blue says, trying to withhold her tears.
"Don't ever scare us like that again!" Yellow orders, as white offers a hand for me to step onto. I hesitate, before finally hoping on. "What happened to Homeworld? And Aquamarine?" I say, expecting to hear the worse.
Their faces only the hesitation, before actually giving me an answer. I know that they want to protect my feelings. "We didn't go back to Aquamarine." White says, with a kind smile, as not to startle me with her words. "Wh-why? Why didn't-"
"We had to get you help." Blue says softly, trying to help me connect the dots. It's in this moment where I would gladly smash my head with a frying pan. Or rip all of my hair out. Cause once again, a whole planet has fallen apart because of me.
I think they notice the distress in my face because they soon try to explain. "If we hadn't there may have been irreversible damage. At least now we know that the fountain can heal the effects of the poison." Yellow comments. "We has come back to Earth and found Pearl, already having healed Steven. Steven then agreed to take you to get healed as Pearl went to Garnet to evacuate Homeworld as best as possible." Yellow continues to explain.
The story slowly unfolds in my mind. I just wished that they would have stopped Aquamarine. "What is going to happen to Homeworld?" I ask, trying to not get any more upset. "I believe that it should be okay for a day." White says, looking to the other gems as they also nod their heads.
"Garnet, Pearl, and Amethyst got as many able gems off the path of the poison and they are now working on getting the healing water from the fountain back to Homeworld." The fact that no one has been reported as hurt makes me feel a little better. "So you're just going to let Aquamarine go?" I ask, wrapping the towel tighter around me.
"Our main priority is to help people."
"First it was to help you."
"Then it will be to help Homeworld."
"And then Aquamarine."
"Because everyone deserves a second chance."
