Spinel

It seemed that there was no good way to get out of the ship. With the vehicle slowly sinking into the poisoned sludge that it had created, it prevented anything from transporting away from it. That includes what I was told is Stevens car?

It's just a small metal box with wheels, that wasn't prepared to truck through sludgy terrain. It's been a while since I landed, and Steven is not doing any better. If anything he is still unconscious, and Garnet is too busy to keep asking me questions. So that leaves me to sitting on the floor, leaning up against the far wall, trying to ignore the pain in my gem.

"Amethyst! I said not to drive the car too close!" Garnet shouts standing in the doorway of the ship, beyond frustrated with this poorly coordinated rescue mission. "Well sorry for trying to help!" Amethyst shouts through the window of the stuck car.

I struggle to keep myself from zoning out, from the staggering pain and boredom. Garnet whips around, coming up with an apparent solution to this situation. "Spinel, do you think you could get us out of here?" She asks, hurrying to get Steven some help. "What were you thinking?" I ask, getting up by pushing myself with the wall that I was leaning up against.

"Could you stretch over, push the car, and then put Steven and I in it." She asks, cooling down her intimidating composure for an expression that looked like she genuinely needed help. I take a moment of silence to think to myself what all of that would entail. I don't even know if I can use my powers.

But if it's to help Steven, I'll definitely try. I take a deep breath, "Sure." I say, trying to muster up the strength to complete such a daunting task. She steps aside as I take her place standing in the door way.

I know I surely must look like a literal mess, still caked with toxic mud and dark circles under my eyes. But I don't let my appearance stress me out, I don't have that kind of energy to waste. I mentally prepare to make the journey to the vehicle, and back, and back to the vehicle.

Oh this is going to be interesting.

The initial tap into my power almost made me give up, just because of how exhausting it was to just stretch my arm a whole foot. It takes a lot longer to make it to the car than I would have liked. And I definitely don't want to know what Amethyst thought when I almost fell right after pushing the wedged car out of that sludge.

Once I make it back to the ship, feet still grounded, I don't know if I can back it back out there. My abdomen feels as if it was on literal fire, and my limbs are starting to feel numb. But when I face Garnet, holding an unconscious Steven in her arms, I knew I couldn't say no.

But maybe I should have.

Or at least have told her how much the poison had affected me too.
