Recap from last chapter...

"Dem," He breathes out. "Come inside. Please?"

I nod and walk over to them,

and follow them inside my childhood home...

~~~~~~
Everything is the exact same as I remember.
The small kitchen is on the right once you walk through the back door. It's like a little hallway- but a kitchen. There's the counter top with cabinets and drawers placed against the wall, the sink in the middle and the window overshadows the counter.
There are old wooden cabinets built in the wall that's hung on the wall, and on the opposite side. Near the other cabinets, there's an old stove and oven hybrid, in the smack middle, and there's a little window that goes through the wall, allowing you to see the open concept living room and dining room.
There's a fridge to the right of the stove which holds loads of family photos and magnets that my dad found on his way back from work. Fun pictures hang from the magnets, and there seems to be new ones, but their in too much of an awkward angle to see what they consist of.
We walk further into the small home and make our way to the living room where there's two worn out couches that face the old T.V. that's placed on a small end table, and a broken, wooden coffee table. One of the legs is broken so there are a stack of books that make sure it's leveled. What a sight.
And of course, hung on the left wall of the living room is the great old Elector's picture. It looks over everything in the house. I always found it creepy. Still do.
As my parents sit down on the couch that's positioned so it's under a window, and make themselves comfortable, I stand awkwardly next to the other couch.
Everything seems fine... There's nothing wrong, I think...
"Dem, please sit. This is still your house," My dad says as he smiles a bit.
I laugh embarrassingly and sit down at the edge of the other couch.
We sit there in an awkward silence. My hands wring with one another and I bite my lip as I look down at my shoes.
My mom clears her throat, causing me to look up at her. "Where were you all of these years, hun..?" She asks desperately, looking at me.
I shy my eyes away from her and look at the wall that faces toward me.
"The streets," I whisper.
"Why didn't you come back squirt. You know you had us deeply worried and we regretted not teaching you enough to pass," My dad pleads, only making me even more guilty.
"I-I know-"
"And we missed you so much, we thought that we failed as parents," My mom cuts me off, tears brimming her eyes again.
"I- know, but-"
"Dem, we love you so much, and when you got taken from us, it was like the end of the world," My dad says putting his face in his hands.
"I know, I-I'm sorry. It's no-not tha-that easy-" I stutter.
"Of course it's not easy!" My mother exclaims. "With those wanted criminals running around, terrorizing the state! It's dangerous! Why...- Why didn't you just come home.. When- when you had the chance.."
