Taleigha
The sun peeked over the horizon, casting a warm glow that gently washed over the world. It was the dawn of a new day--- a day that held the weight of uncertainty and trepidation. Habang nakatingin sa sarili kong repleksyon sa harap ng salamin, hindi ko makilala ang aking sarili bagama't suot ko ang maskara ng nerbyos at pagkabalisa.
Pangalawang araw na namin sa Valentino High School ngayon. Sa katunayan, ito ang unang araw na magiging aktwal na estudyante na kami ng paaralan. Even though I didn't like the thought of transferring here, I was hoping to find new connections and form new memories alongside my best friend, Ashi. Like the old times, you know. Gaya pa rin noong nasa Holton University kami.
But the innocent allure had crumbled beneath the weight of a vicious incident--- an incident that had woven its tendrils around Ashi, ensnaring her in a web of horrifying situation.
Nagpaalam siya sa amin ni Reed kahapon upang magbanyo. Reed and I got so caught up with our own stories to tell that we forgot she hadn't returned until the bell rang. Doon lang namin napagtanto. Blood? That word didn't escape my head up to today. And other than that, I keep hearing that this student was found dead. Dead, another word to add to the dread. That didn't end there when I heard about the whole situation—-- that someone killed someone.
But then, I caught Ashi's face in the crowd. Hawak siya ng g'wardya. Agad ko itong itinawag at nang lingunin niya ako, hindi ako makapaniwala sa nasaksihan. That's the scariest part. Her cardigan soaked in blood. It was a deep red that made my organs coil in horror. I'd never seen that much blood before, and when I did, I almost puked.
She was being carried around the chamber, that spooky abandoned building. And it was then that I understood she was the one everyone was accusing of something. I was drowning under the question, "What happened?"
Hindi ko maitatanggi na nagkaroon ako ng masamang palaisipan. I suspect that Ashi was involved in and took part in the incident. I envisioned her losing her cool and beating someone in the face. Ngunit hindi ko hinayaan na manatili ang palaisipan na iyon sa aking ulo. I know Ashi far too well to entertain such concept. She's overly mentally savvy to lose her cool, let alone punch someone in the face. It could have been the very last thing she would have done. Para malinawan, sinubukan ko siyang tawagan. She did not respond after I attempted several times to reach her, which made me feel even more agitated.
