Sonic The Hedgehog

Chapter 6

Sonic had made his way to the back door of the castle that led to the garage, his bag of rings in hand. He hoped he'd never had to see the day where he was forced to leave Soleanna to escape detection. But it was the only way to stay safe, so he was told.

"People are probably already after you as we speak. You can't stay here anymore... Soleanna didn't work out, but that's okay! You're going to a safer planet, where no one can find you. You'll... I'll... be all alone..." Sonic mused to himself. He jumped through the window, landing with an unintentionally loud thud.

"Okay, that was loud...." Sonic muttered, hoping he didn't attract anyone's attention. He looked at the ring in his gloved hand. He was already starting to have second thoughts.

"I can't do this..."

"Yes, you can!"

"What if the Mushroom Planet is even worse than Earth?"

"You gotta go to the Mushroom Planet. It's your only hope now."

Sonic was about to throw the ring on the ground when the garage door was forcefully thrown open as Shenzi barged in. Katana in hand and immediately situating herself in a fighting stance, Shenzi braced herself as she walked into the dim-of-light space with her blade pointing forward.

"Royal Guard!" She shouted, her tone sounding angry and violent even if it wasn't. She immediately scouted for the source of the noise.

"Put your hands where I can see-" She practically stopped mid-sentence her bright eyes landing onto.. well, whatever it was. She couldn't even finish her sentence, which was saying something, as she was never usually this shocked. It was some blue hedgehog....? Before she knew it, Shenzi was looking at Sonic right in the eyes. His eyes reflected emeralds and forest greens, and he seemed stunned that she had found him too. Shenzi's mouth was slightly parted in bewilderment, not moving at first. She didn't know what to do. Sonic, in the same vein, just stood in place, staring at the she-leopard in awe. The tension was rising in the air and he knew he needed to say something and fast. Sonic gulped as he mustered his courage and let out the words that came to his mind.

"Uh... MEOW?"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!"

And without much thinking, Shenzi twisted her Katakana to the blunt end and thwacked the end of it on the hedgehog's head with enough force to practically drive a ball out of the field and make a home run. Sonic merely screamed himself as he was knocked into a wall, dropping the ring he was holding. It enlarged nearly ten times its size, opening a portal to Saint Helena. Shenzi was in complete awe at what she saw. She backed up, tail raising in alarm as her eyes flashed a golden hue and widened by the second, her Katakana slipping from her hold and clattering to the floor. The snow leopard was staring at a portal, much like the ones that were around the kingdom, but nothing like this. This was incredibly advanced for technology! The snow leopard was breath taken by the sight she was seeing. That was when she noticed the pouch Sonic held had flown out of his grasp and plummeted straight into the portal. Sonic would've chased after it had the effects of the blunt weapon's impact didn't take effect almost immediately. Sonic grasped his head painfully as he began to wobble around with a groan.

"Ow... What was.. in that s...stick....?" Sonic groaned. Before long, the hedgehog finally collapsed on the ground, passing out just seconds later. So many questions roused in Shenzi's mind, and she just couldn't find the strength to move. She was glued to the spot where she stood. Shenzi gazed helplessly at the blue hedgehog motionlessly lying on the ground, not knowing how to react since she was too stunned. Her grey eyes glistened with regret that she had smacked him hard. But she was comforted by the fact that at least she didn't kill the hedgehog, judging by the hedgehog's slow but steady breathing. She tried to reassess herself on the situation, replaying the events in her mind as she ran a shaky paw through her hair and let out a breath of fresh air.

"What?" Shenzi asked herself in disbelief.
