allie campbell had been out of the shower barely fifteen minutes so her hair was still dripping down her clothed back. the blonde girl had always believed in comfort over fashion which is why her pyjamas consisted of a pair of old shorts and an oversized t-shirt that she had bought from primark, one of her places of work.
the blonde held a glass of red wine in one hand and her phone in the other as she danced around her bedroom to whitney houston's 'i wanna dance with somebody'. allie was most definitely not a dancer but she enjoyed it all the same. she needed some time to unwind after marjorie had had her scrubbing a new mustard stain out of her carpets.
harry winks also seemed to enjoy the blonde girl's dancing because when he let himself into their flat, he stood at the front door and watched as she danced through from her bedroom and into the lounge. harry wasn't trying to be creepy, he just didn't know how to announce his presence without scaring her. it didn't matter though because that's exactly what he did. he scared her.
allie spun around and when she saw the tottenham boy standing right in front of her, she let out a yelp and almost dropped her glass of wine.
"harry!" she yelled, still trying to recover from her near heart attack.
"sorry, sorry. i didn't mean to scare you, that's actually what i was trying not to do." the brunette boy let out a nervous chuckle and scratched the back of his neck. he was embarrassed about what had just happened. he would've looked weird watching her dance and all he wanted was to impress her.
"there were some flowers outside. i didn't see who they were from or who they were for but they were the same as last week's." the footballer pointed at the door which was still open and allie could see the pink of the tulips out of the corner of her eye.
the blonde girl stepped past harry and as she did so, she caught a whiff of his cologne and allie felt her knees almost buckle. she collected herself and wandered out to the hallway. allie looked down and sure enough, she found a new bouquet of flowers. when she picked them up, a new card fell from the flowers. allie picked it up and read it.
allie,
despite never really liking geography, i could listen to you talk about rivers and rocks for days.
the girl smiled softly at the note. it was another cute one and it really did make her feel special.
"these are so cute." allie smiled to herself as she made her way to the kitchen and harry could only try to hide his smile. he didn't want to give himself away.
"do you need any help?" harry offered as he saw that she was struggling a bit to juggle the big bouquet in her hands. the flowers this week were slightly bigger than the ones from last week.
"uh, sure. that would be nice, thank you." allie offered him a sweet smile and he was immediately by her side, helping her throw away the old flowers and fill up the vase with water. as harry went to hand the vase back, allie's fingers brushed his. he felt slightly embarrassed by the ordeal and so he almost dropped the glass vase but allie had a grip on it.
"sorry." the london boy muttered but the blonde girl simply shook her head at him and smiled. he was cute. she wouldn't have minded if he had smashed her only vase. if she had to, she would've split the tulips up and placed them in a drinking glass or a mug.
"haz, isn't it sweet that someone keeps leaving me flowers? i might stay home this friday and find out who it is." the blonde interrupted the comfortable silence and looked towards the footballer.
"no!" harry panicked and yelled out, catching allie off guard and making her suspicious.
"i mean, you shouldn't do that. they're anonymous for a reason right?" the brunette boy tried to recover from his sudden outburst and allie agreed. maybe it was best if she didn't meddle with things.
"you never told me what you're doing here." allie spoke from beside the footballer as she started to arrange the flowers in the vase, wanting them to look perfect.
"not that i mind of course. i quite enjoy your company." when the words came from the shorter girl, harry's eyes widened. he couldn't believe that she enjoyed his company when he was so shy around her. he was usually quite a confident guy but allie did something to him.
"monique invited me round to chat about something. she said she might be late so to let myself in which is why i caught you dancing." harry trailed off as he realised what his ex girlfriend had done. she had absolutely no intention of seeing him today, she just wanted him and allie to have an evening together.
"yeah, sorry about that. you probably didn't need to see my 'dancing'." allie inserted air quotes around the last word of her sentence because truthfully, it wasn't dancing. it was just her jumping around her room.
"nah, it's okay. i enjoyed your 'dancing'." harry copied the girl that was beside her and also used air quotes.
"if you enjoyed it so much, why didn't you join in?" allie challenged, a newfound confidence being evident in the way that she acted around the footballer.
"i don't dance." harry chuckled, shaking his head as he too denied his dancing ability.
"no, no," allie started, not liking what she was hearing from the london boy.
"you are not about to pull some chad danforth shit on me." the blonde girl laughed as she took a hold of harry's larger hand and pulled him back towards the living room.
"you," the short girl pointed towards harry with a smile on her face.
"are going to dance with me." it was hard for both harry and allie to hide the smiles that were evident on both of their faces. they liked each other, that much was obvious to everyone, just not each other.
