allie was out of her boot after only three weeks since her fracture wasn't that bad. harry had been round to her flat almost every day since it had happened to check on her and make sure that she was doing okay. most people would find it to be incredibly annoying and suffocating but not allie. she found it endearing. in fact, she couldn't get enough of her boyfriend.
"harry, you know how you have a bit of a break coming up?" allie dragged his name out as she looked up to see her boyfriend's face. he was concentrating on the show that allie had chosen for them both to watch. he wasn't too sure on it but he thought that he would stick to it. harry wanted to see if it was worth it or not. so far, it was not worth it.
"yeah?" he answered, wondering where she was going with her question. she sounded hopeful and he wondered why.
"well, i told my parents that you would come for our family dinner..." allie trailed off and harry almost choked on his own saliva. they had never spoken about meeting the parents. he knew that it was coming soon but harry just wished that he had had more time to prepare.
"allie," he started but she cut him off with a kiss on the lips. allie wasn't stupid, she knew that he was about to start rambling. it was something that harry did often, especially when he felt uneasy or nervous about something.
"bubba, they'll love you so please, don't worry about it." it was strange to harry but his nerves suddenly vanished as he listened to allie's reassuring words. harry trusted allie with his life and if she said that everything would be fine, then he believed her.
***
"like i said last week, they'll love you." allie squeezed her boyfriend's hand before opening the front door to her parents house.
stepping into the warmth of the house, the couple were immediately bombarded by allie's family.
"guys, give him some space to breathe." the blonde girl pushed them back after noticing how overwhelmed harry was.
"hi, i'm harry." the footballer blurted out with a completely new accent, something that confused his girlfriend. what was he doing?
"ahh, i forgot about the prank we were going to do." allie put on an australian accent and earned a few weird looks from her family, despite the fact that they should be used to it by now.
"we'll just be two minutes." the blonde girl told her family and pushed her boyfriend into the bathroom and shut the door behind them.
when harry looked at his girlfriend, she could see how nervous he was but also how confused he was.
"what the hell was that?" the blonde girl whispered to her boyfriend, trying to find out why he had put on a stupid accent.
"i thought that if i was posher, they'd like me more." harry whispered back and allie's expression immediately softened at his words. she already knew that her family liked him, they'd seen him on the tv screen enough times doing interviews and charity work.
"harry, no. they've seen you on the telly, you idiot. they know what your voice sounds like." allie let out a small laugh and harry hung his head, not believing how he had managed to mess things up already when he'd only been there for five minutes.
"bubba, they already love you. they know that you're a great guy and they like us together," allie started, cupping her boyfriend's face with her hands and letting her thumbs stroke his face absentmindedly.
"they just wanted to meet you in person. go out there and be the amazing guy that i fell for." harry's eyes glimmered with hope and before the two of them could leave the bathroom, he pecked a quick kiss to allie's lips.
when the couple emerged from the bathroom, harry was immediately bombarded by allie's family once again.
allie had grown up surrounded by her family. she didn't have any aunts, uncles or cousins since both of her parents were only children. they both didn't mind that much but they knew that they wanted plenty of their own children which is why allie was the youngest of three girls. the middle child, carly, was only two years older than allie. the eldest of the three girls, aubree, was again only two years older than carly. this meant that allie's sisters were twenty five and twenty seven.
"theo, no!" the voice of aubree called out as she ran to pick up her one year old son who had decided that eating the pebbles out of the plant pot was a wise idea.
"that's my nephew." allie whispered to her boyfriend as he had been introduced to everyone but the little boy.
"i think that's for you." the blonde pointed down to where theo was standing next to harry's leg, holding out a piece of string.
"ta!" harry exclaimed as he gently removed the piece of orange string from the little boy who had a beaming smile on his face.
"what am i supposed to do with this?" the footballer mumbled to himself as he inspected the piece of string.
allie decided to leave the two boys to play and get to know each other. the blonde girl sat on one of the couches in the living room and watched her boyfriend interact with her nephew whilst her family all spoke to each other.
the sight of her boyfriend being so good with children made her heart feel full. maybe it was too soon and too rushed for most people but allie really did feel like she was in love. harry made her feel special and loved and that's exactly what she was looking for. allie had ways been told, by her parents and her older sister, that she would know when she had met the right person. allie felt like she knew that harry was the right person.
