In the Deep

Chapter 12

   The dark cloud that gathered resembled my life the small semblance of family that I have is falling apart smh my parents really couldn't find away to not allow this to escalate.I love Shan and Nicjole for them  to be at odds is heartbreaking. I love Nichole like a mother and I really can't be mad because if things were different Shan wouldn't have been here. My thoughts are selfish but that just how I feel.
  Glancing over at shan I see that she is also deep in thought.
   The taxi came to a halt and we signal for the security to open the gate.
   Richy glanced at us through is mirror "you two quiet today tho, wah wrong?" I simply shook my head has the car came  to a halt at her house.
    We exist the car walking has if we were heading to our doom. Using my key we went inside to find Nichole watching tv and drinking a glass of wine.
   It took everything to not run to her and sink into one of her hugs
,but I had to be strong for my sister. This brought tears to my eyes.
    The air felt thick has I was hoping they will find a middle ground. I spoke up "how are you?"  I asked feeling the sting of unshed tears.
"I am fine baby." She replayed not taking her eyes off her daughter. I sat on a bean bag has Shan took her seat in the chair next to it.
After a few  more mins of silence  Shante spoke " Mummy why you never tell me?" She release a beep breath
"MUMMY to how mi a question my life right now"  tears rolled down Nichole's cheeks.
  "It seem complicated at the time and both of you are so innocent in all of this, what happen was selfish but the both of you mean so much to me" she stood and walk over to us and got on her knees "I always choose you two no matter what, Ants your mother could  have torn you and shan apart if you didnt love your sister the way you did she would have gotten her way and when I saw that you chose her even when your mother told you not to,I knew I was suppose to come clean but your father wouldnt allow it." At this point we were all crying " you think I wanted to keep this a secret any longer? Shan, our livelihood depended on it he pays for your schooling, he pays for the house. I did this for you."
   Shan was all tears and I wasnt better. I understood everything she was saying my Dad throws money at everything.
"Mommy all I wanted was yuh honesty. Yesterday I was angry because I was the cost of my bestfriend loosing her happiness, her parents, I was the cost of  breaking up their house." I was shock to hear her say those things.
" you are not the cost of that!" Both me and Nichole gave out.
" That is all on me baby I betrayed my friendship and slept with Everton. I am sorry to both of you. I have tried for years to do the same with your mother but she doesn't care for it and I can't blame her. I am truly sorry for the hurt I have caused you two" Nichole explained.
We help Nichole off the ground and we were all standing in a big hug.
"You guys are my family, my mother and my sister. My parents chose to hate each other over loving me and that hurts no matter wat." I hugged them tighter  "I was cast aside and you loved me and took care of me and for that I am grateful."
A day filled with tears but we resolved our issues and prayed things went back to normal.
