4 ~

Kakashi had felt loss in his life. He knew as a shinobi, loss was something that was bound to happen whether it be your comrades or yourself. Obito Uchiha was a brat, a no-good shinobi who didn't follow the rules. But during this mission they had bonded. Obito had made Kakashi see his way, why following the code of a shinobi was what caused many to fall. Made him realize why his own father had turned his back on a mission for the sake of his teammates. And it made him angry.

There was no body to recover, the only thing that Team Minato had of their fallen teammate was their memories and for Kakashi, it was also Obito's left eye. As the now three man squad made their way towards the village gates, a heavier silence fell among the group. No one said anything but everyone knew something had to be said, words on the tip of each of their tongues but refusing to come out.

"I'll report our arrival of our mission as well as a oral report. Have your written mission reports in by the end of the week. Don't forget, the Ito shrine tomorrow at 5pm, okay?" Minato said to the two before him.

"You're still going to have the wedding?" Rin asked.

Minato had smiled a little bit, "Obito would have wanted us to go through with it." The jounin sighed heavily, "I'll have to go talk to his relatives and talk to Kikyo..."

"I'll do it."

Minato paused his step to look at his silver haired student, his leaf headband was now placed over his left eye and over some bandages. An empty look in his visible eyes and his fists clenched at his sides.

"I'll go talk to Kikyo about Obito."

Minato didn't know what to think of it. Kakashi didn't really know Kikyo other than what Obito had told them about her and what he could make of her in their two very short encounters. Maybe this was his way of talking about what had happened? Maybe it was his was of beating himself up by confronting one of the few people that Obito held close to him. Minato simply nodded and watched as Kakashi jumped away leaving himself and Rin standing alone.

"Head on to the hospital Rin, get yourself checked out and schedule yourself a therapist appointment, okay? I'll see you tomorrow."

Rin simply nodded sadly and made her way into the village; Minato signing him and his team in at the gate before jumping through the rooftops towards the Hokage tower.

Kakashi didn't know how long he stood in front of the shrine before he gained the courage to make his way up the two steps onto the porch to knock on the door. When Kikyo had opened the door, he couldn't help but stare. It seemed all he ever did in her presence was stare at her, she interested him in more ways than one and he didn't fully understand why. Her hair was loose from it's braid and her red eyes seemed to glow brightly even in the shade of the shrines overhang. She wore a fishnet top with bandages over her chest and a dark green kimono that was open as well as a pair of black leggings that stopped right above her knee. Kakashi couldn't help but take note that her toe nails were painted black and she had an anklet on her left ankle.

"Kakashi?"

His attention was brought back to her face and he couldn't help himself from stating into her eyes. A small mix of emotions swirled within them - worry, confusion, anger, concern and even sadness. He frowned behind his mask before falling to his knees and bowing his head to the floor, visions of a smiling and laughing Obito came to the front of his mind making him clench his eye and jaw shut tightly. Kakashi couldn't see her but knew she had fallen to her knees, placing her hands on his shoulders and mumbling that it was okay over and over again. But it wasn't okay, Obito was dead and it was his fault.
