Chapter two, the silent treatment.

Wei Ying knew exactly how to enter the hidden part of the Cold Pond Cave, entering, he wasn't surprised when he was greeted by a smiling Lan Yi. He bowed to her before sitting in front of the Zither which also sensed who he was.

Lan Yi smiled warmly at him, "You are not from this time." She smiled, Wei Ying gulped and shook his head, his face suddenly bitter.

"It's all that dumb boy's fault..." He mumbled and Lan Yi smiled at the lack of change, however, it was then that Wei Ying frowned.

"Wait, how do you remember me? I haven't been here yet?" He questioned and Lan Yi's gaze was gentle and warm.

She picked up a bunny and began to talk, "I am beyond time at the moment, I didn't know who you were until I saw you and I knew all I needed to know." She explained and Wei Ying nodded, ignoring his confusion for now.

He placed his head on his arms, "I-I don't know what to do... Lan Zhan must be so worried..." He whimpered, Lan Yi's heart broke, this pure soul didn't deserve pain.

Her transparent hand patted his head softly, "I am aware of your need for ingredients, if you look at the bottom of the cave, you'll find one there." She spoke softly, although at that Wei Ying's head snapped up.

Without hesitation he dived in, it wasn't difficult to reach the bottom and when he came back up in his hand lay a Heather flower. It was one of the ingredients!

Smiling gratefully he bowed to her before rushing out. Lan Yi giggled a little before she disappeared again, waiting for the approaching day that Wei Ying and Lan Zhan's story would begin.

Wei Ying- despite his drenched clothes ran through the forest to Nie. Even though he was currently furious at the other this was progress already! It hadn't even been an hour and they had an ingredient. Wei Ying was going home no matter what.

Once he arrived he placed the ingredient down in front of the other man before stealing a blanket from under him. Nie gasped in surprise at the cruel but justified treatment and he fell back a little, Wei Ying said nothing but lay down on the blanket and stared at the list.

Nie Huaisang smiled, "You found an ingredient already!" He cheered, although his spirits dampened a bit. If anything he'd just made their relationship worse, "Where was it?"

He waited for a reply but none came from the shivering man, drenched clothes and Cloud Recess was not a good combination. Nie frowned, "Master Wei?" He called but again was ignored.

It was then he concluded that he was getting the silent treatment, and he hated it. Sighing, the two sat in silence until Nie Huaisang took off his thick outer robes and draped it over the other man whose teeth were chattering.

Wei Ying stood up and walked behind the shelter to shield himself from Nie as he changed. Despite his anger and discomfort he wore the outer robes on top of his damp robe and placed the extra layers on the edges of the shelter, waiting for them to dry.

Every now and then Wei Ying would leave and come back with different ingredients. He got ones that were easy to get, however, there were easily thirty more and each one was increasingly more difficult to find than the last.

Nie Huaising was drowning in guilt, he'd separated the two souls that were more in love than any other pair in history again. The current Wei Wuxian was suffocating without his Lan Zhan, while the past Wei Wuxian was probably travelling to Cloud Recess as they sit in bone-chilling silence.

Nie Huaisang took a piece of cloth from his robes and placed it on the floor, as he placed ingredient by ingredient he slowly checked the small amount off the list. Wei Ying watched the list shorten by three and gulped. As he stared at the other ingredients he held back tears, there was no way he would get back to his Lan Zhan any time soon. The majority of these were fucking rare! He cursed the Nie clan leader silently for the 100th time in the past five minutes before closing his eyes and thinking.
