Lan Zhan cried silently beside his brother hours later. His Wei Ying was nowhere to be found despite the hundreds of Clan members looking for him. Lan Zhan's heart was breaking, yet it was racing so hard. His face held the same lost expression it had all those years ago in Xuanwu cave when he told Wei about his home burning down.

Tears trailed down his pale cheeks to the floor, hitting the floorboards with a miserable 'drop.' Lan Xichen sat beside him, one hand held his brother's while the other soothingly stroked his back.

"We'll find him Wangji." Lan Xichen said with determination and Lan Zhan gulped.

His cheeks were damp with tears of longing and stress, "Brother... he vanished in front of me... while I watched powerlessly." He muttered, his voice distant yet traumatised yet again. Lan Xichen's heart broke, he continued to comfort his breaking brother into early hours of the morning.

For obvious reasons, Lan Zhan couldn't sleep, refused to. The thought of lying in a bed without Wei Ying made him sick to his stomach and so, standing his ground he refused.

The next day, the message reached Jiang Cheng who too was in panic at the news and sent even more disciples out to look for him. Lan Zhan went to all the places he thought Wei Ying would go, travelling by sword he went to every single one. His attempts to find him were useless though.

Lan Zhan searched until he hit the point of exhaustion days later where he couldn't physically go anymore. Collapsing on his bed, he screamed into the pillow. An act Lan Wangji would never do on any other day but he'd been pushed too far this time.

He'd lost Wei Ying, again. With no trace of him anywhere and his horrifying disappearance, Lan Zhan lost it.

Passing out, he hoped for a better tomorrow.

Lan Xichen walked into the Jingshi and instantly his heart shattered. His baby brother was curled up hugging a pillow. Wuxian's pillow. Tear marks on his cheeks and bags under his eyes.

He had lost weight from his thorough search and stress. Holding back tears, Lan Xichen rushed forward and gently placed his baby brother in a more comfortable position of rest before sitting beside him.

Lan Xichen hesitated before zapping some blue energy into his brother's temple. It would make him rest for a few days while he tried to find his fiance. At the energy, Lan Zhan flinched a little before his body relaxed. Leaving with a heavy heart, Lan Xichen was on a mission.

He was going to find Wangji's fiance in one piece, alive, or somebody is going to have a blood debt to pay.

On his way out of Cloud Recess, he bumped into Sizhui who looked exhausted. His fingers bled all over his robes and instantly Lan Xichen rushed to sit the swaying boy on the floor.

"Uncle..." Sizhui called and Lan Xichen's heart softened, "I-I couldn't find him..." He whimpered and it was then that Lan Xichen connected the dots.

A-Yuan, through his music, could not find Wei Ying's soul... anywhere.
