"Daniel?" I ask.
"Hmm?" He hums.
"Want to play a game?" I ask.
He shakes his head and continues to watch TV.
"Come on." I push.
"Look what happened when we ate together." He points out.
I sigh, "That wasn't when we ate." I say, "It was when I cared for you."
"I guess that's the difference." He stands and walks up stairs.
Daniel's POV
The difference between us. I care for her all the time, she cares for me at times.
"Please." She says grabbing my arm.
I groan and turn to her, "Fine."
She's always calling me moody, but now she wants to play a game?
"How about... Never have I ever." She says shrugging.
I nod not wanting to speak much.
"Never have I ever.... had a dog?" She says holding up a hand.
I take a finger down making her smile.
"What kind?" She asks.
"Golden retriever." I say simply, "Never have I ever... had a sleep over."
She doesn't put a finger down, surprising me.
"Nope." She shakes her head.
"Wow." I say. How hasn't she? I've never seen her friends.
"Never have I ever kissed two people in one day?" She asks.
I don't put down a finger as I recall my entire life. Nope. She grins and points at me.
"Never have I ever stalked a crush?" I say smiling.
She takes a finger down, "A few years ago." She says.
"What about me?" I ask smiling.
"You're not my crush." She says shrugging.
I roll my eyes, "Never have I ever kissed my crush." She says.
I take a finger down, "A few years ago." I quote laughing.
As much as we were mad at each other, we're having fun. Or at least I am.
"Okay, new game." I say adjusting myself, "Truth or drink."
"What's that?" She asks.
I smile, "Get five shots for both of us, we give each other truths and if we don't want to answer we take a shot." I explain.
She nods before standing, "I'll get the tequila."
She comes back eventually with cups and the bottle. I help set them up and when we're done we stair at each other from across the table.
"I'm going first." I say.
"Fine." She sighs.
"Do you have a crush?" I ask.
She laughs before taking the shot. Come on!
"Why'd you kiss me?" She asks.
I flush before taking the shot, we're not looking too good.
"Why don't you like me?" I ask.
She laughs, "Easy. You're moody, annoying, confusing-"
"Okay!" I interrupt while laughing.
She giggles before sitting straighter, "Why are you such an ass?"
"Pass." I say seriously. I'd much rather take a shot then have to explain, at least for now.
She sighs as I set the cup back down, "How are you so beautiful?" I ask.
Mackenzie's POV
"Well... I believe my dad." I say feeling a small buzz.
"You don't find your mom beautiful?" He asks.
"I didn't sat that." I say smiling.
"Go." He says.
"What's your body count?" I ask.
He pauses and turns white, "I'm drinking."
"Too many? or a virgin?" I ask, actually curious.
"Trust me, I'm not a virgin." He says smirking.
"Sure." I say sarcastically.
"Let me show you." He says winking.
I shake my head, "I'd rather have your friend."
He frowns and clenches his jaw. Did he really get butt hurt? that's cute.
No it's not!
"Do you find me attractive?" He asks playing with the plastic shot glass.
I think about it, not because I don't know. He's hot, but do I tell him?
"Yes." I say simply.
"I knew it." He says smirking.
I roll my eyes, "Do you find me attractive?" I ask.
"Of course." He answers immediately.
"Okay, one more for both of us." I say, "Would. you. cheat?"
My stomach turns as I wait for his answer.
"Not on you." He says, turning our humor to seriousness.
I gulp at his words. Not on me? I try not to think about it as he searches my face.
"Your turn." I say quietly.
He nods, "Where's the tattoo you got?" He asks.
I laugh a little before taking the shot. The burning soon disappears and I clean up our mess.
"Thank you." I say buzzed.
"For what?" He asks.
"For playing." I say obviously.
He nods as I put the cups in the sink.
"When does our mom's come back?" He asks.
"In three days, I think." I say.
He nods before sitting on the island in the middle of the kitchen. I laugh and look back at I wash the dishes.
"Do you consider us friends?" I ask.
He shakes his head, "For your sake... no." He says.
"For my sake?" I ask.
He stays quiet until I feel arms wrap around my stomach and his chin rest on my head.
"Daniel?" I ask frozen.
He turns me around and hugs me more comfortably.
"This is it." He says, "This far."
"This far?" I ask, awkwardly hugging him back.
"For now." He whispers.
