"Mac!" I hear his voice call.
Sitting up, I head downstairs until seeing him with a girl. Of course, she doesn't look like a slut. Probably his girlfriend. I roll my eyes as I make my way to him.
"This is Mary." He says pointing.
I look at her then back to Daniel, "Okay?" I ask.
"I wanted you two to hang out." He says.
"Why?" I ask.
"You don't have many friends." He says.
"That's for a reason." I glare at him.
"Like what?" He asks pulling me away from her.
"Like how it was with you!" I whisper yell, "So when I moved, I didn't get.... attached."
He frowns at me, "Princess." He tilts his head.
"Stop." I say blankly, "Just tell her I'm sorry."
He moves so I can walk back up the stairs. A few minutes later there's a knock at the door.
"Princess?" He asks.
"Hm?" I hum.
"Can I come in?" The door opens a crack.
"Yeah." I sigh sitting criss-cross.
He walks in and closes the door behind him before sitting in front of me.
"I'm sorry, I just thought-"
"I know. It's okay." I assure smiling.
"If you change your mind I have her number." He says.
"What is she to you?" I ask.
"My cousin." He laughs.
Relief washes over me for a reason I don't want to admit.
"Okay, you can go now." I say looking away.
"I was wondering if you wanted to go burn our school down." He says.
I smile at him, "Sure." I shrug.
"You really aren't a good girl." He laughs, "We aren't doing that."
I giggle while brushing my hand through my hair.
"What's on you'r mind?" He asks.
"What do you mean?" I look at him confused.
"You play with your hair when something is bothering you." He says.
"Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever have friends." I say shaking my head.
"Princess." He says placing his hand on mine.
I move mine, not wanting him to touch me. I do, but it's best for me not to let him.
He sighs, "You will."
I nod, "Yeah." I sigh, "I'm going to get some sleep."
He nods, "Yeah."
I watch as he stands and walks out of my room, leaving me in silence. My phone buzzes on my nightstand.
Hey, call me - Mom
I dial her number and wait for her to pick up.
"Hey mom." I say.
"Hey honey, how're things going?" She asks.
"Okay, what about you guys?" I ask.
"It's amazing." She cheers.
"Why didn't you take us?" I ask.
"Because you need friends honey." She says.
"Not when we keep moving mom." I say.
"Honey, we aren't anymore, this is permanent." She says.
"What? We aren't?" I stand with the phone to my ear.
"Don't sound too excited." She says sarcastically.
"I... don't know what to say, he..." I breathe trying to find the words.
"Honey." She says, "We'll be home in a few days."
I hang up and sit against the wall.
"You okay?" Danny asks, standing in front of me.
I nod, "Just... got some news."
"What did she say?" He asks.
"I'm here permanently." I sigh.
"What? Really?" He asks happily, "That's good, right?"
"Yeah, it's just different." I shake my head.
"I'll give you Mary's number whenever you feel like it." He says.
"I'm not doing friends anymore." I say standing.
"What?" he asks.
"I'm leaving to my house, please just leave me alone." I say running out.
"Mac!" He yells for me.
I can't have him as my friend anymore, if he ever was. I sit in my bedroom with my curtains closed and the lights off. Darkness surrounds me, why now? Why did she tell me now?
You okay? - Mom
Why are we staying now? - Me
Because, this is where I grew up - Mom
What? I feel like I don't even know you - Me
Honey - Mom
I turn my phone off and ignore all of her messages. I'm done listening to anyone. Everything is burning and blowing up. I thought I didn't like my mother, but I just didn't know her. Daniel can stay away right along with my mom.
Mac? - D
Mac, what's wrong - D
I power my phone off and stuff it under my pillow. Laying down, I close my eyes with a sigh. It's what's best for me, my family, and 'friend.'
