"Hey!" I burst through Daniel's front door.
"Make yourself comfortable, why don't you." He laughs.
I smile big, "You love me!"
He chuckles and sits up, "Were you sleeping?" I ask.
"Maybe." He admits.
"Why?" I ask.
"I got pissed off." He says standing.
"Okay." I say, "Who?"
"Paul, Leave it." He says.
I hold my hands up, "Fine."
"What're we going to do?" I ask.
"What do you want to do?" He asks, making me shiver.
I gulp, "Let's make food."
"Food." He smiles, "What kind?"
"Cake!" I squeal.
He smiles and takes my hand, pulling me to the kitchen. When he lets go my hand aches to be in his again. Stop that.
"What flavor Princess?" He asks.
"Chocolate." I smile.
"Cute." He comments.
I watch as he grabs the box down. He hands it to me with a smile.
"Thanks." I say turning.
I begin to make the mix and Danny helps. Eventually we finally get it into a pan, we're both covered in flour.
"Now we leave it for 30 minutes." I say.
He crouches down and begins to laugh.
"What?" I ask.
"We made a huge mess." He laughs out.
"Sorry." I smile.
He shakes his head, "It was fun."
He stands in front of me and wipes my face. My cheeks burn as I stare up at him.
"Daniel." I whisper.
"Hmm?" He hums.
"We can't." I shake my head.
"Why?" He asks.
He leans down while grabbing my face, I don't stop him. He presses his lips to mine softly before pulling away. I catch my breath and continue to stare at him. My stomach hurts as my urge to touch him grows.
"One day princess." He smiles.
I nod while sitting on the counter. Something like this would usually be awkward, but with him it isn't. I think that we just need time. We both wait for the cake to be done in silence.
After time is up I pull it out carefully and set it on the counter.
"Please don't burn yourself." He says.
I smile, "I won't."
After checking it, all that's left is to wait.
"Okay, now we wait." I say sitting on the counter again.
"I don't want to." He pouts.
"It's just cake." I shrug.
He shakes his head, "For you."
Knowing what he's talking about my stomach churns.
"Will you sleep over?" He asks.
"What? Why?" I ask.
"It's the last night we can." He shrugs.
I nod, "Sure."
"We need to place some ground rules." He says.
"Like what?" I ask.
"Like, don't let me kiss you, it's way too tempting." He says smiling.
"Okay, knock." I say.
He nods, "No touching, only friendly high fives or whatever."
I laugh, "Deal."
"This cake should be done." He says.
I nod, "Yeah."
We make the cake and each have slice, then head to his back yard.
"Do you want to have a bonfire?" He asks.
"Sure." I shrug, "If you make it."
"Of course." He laughs, "You're too weak."
"Oh really?" I ask punching his arm, "Meany."
He laughs while placing the wood in the pit.
"I'm sorry." I say.
"For what?" He asks.
"For all of the times that I'm confusing, I never have had this." I say.
"This?" He asks.
"This." I say gesturing between us.
"What is this?" He asks.
"Friends." I say blankly.
He nods and begins to light the wood.
We end up making s'mores before heading inside.
"Goodnight." I say quietly.
"Night." He says back.
I walk into the spare room and lay down. The darkness bares to mercy, I look up at the blank ceiling. This room gives me chills, I get up and walk down the hall to Danny's room.
"Danny?" I ask tiredly
"Princess?" He asks with a raspy voice.
"Can I sleep in here?" I ask.
"Yeah, I'll take the floor." He sits up.
"No." I say, "Stay."
I lay down next to him quietly and look over at him.
"Mac, this isn't a good idea." He admits.
"I know." I say facing him.
He places his hand on my cheek and leans in. The fire lights in my stomach as I kiss him back. He wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me onto him. I sit comfortably, kissing him while running my fingers through his soft hair.
I shake my head, "We can't." I whisper.
"We already broke one deal, can we break the rest?" He asks.
I nod and lay down beside him, he takes my hand.
"I guess I don't have to knock." He jokes.
"Yeah." I laugh, "Just don't break into my house again."
"It wasn't breaking in." He shakes his head.
I close my eyes and roll away from him. Tonight was the end, it isn't our time.
