WARRIORS The Moons of the New Great Battles

Prologue

"Beware, for Dream will destroy Thunder and River, unless they prepare."

The starry cat murmuring the mysterious prophecy broke the peaceful, silent, night. Birds squawked and flew away from all directions, the mice scurried away, and the squirrels raced up trees. 

A dark ginger tom with amber eyes, along with a golden she-cat, a gray she-cat with white paws and green eyes, and a tortoiseshell she-cat were gazing at the sky intently, trying to understand the strange prophecy. 

The dark ginger tom stared at his companions, his mind racing, and finally spoke in a deep, booming voice, "I think it means Dreamcloud will betray us, and try to kill us and RiverClan, and we need to prepare for her attacking us."

"But that's mouse-brained, Alderheart!" the golden she-cat protested, leaping up, her fur bristling and back arched. "Dreamcloud would never even try to do that!"

The gray she-cat was narrowing her eyes thoughtfully, mewing, "Why would Dreamcloud want to try to destroy us? The last time I checked, she's about as loyal as Firestar!"

The ginger leader with green eyes named Firestar was a former leader of ThunderClan. He saved the forest many times, starting with Tigerstar and BloodClan, and ending with the Great Battle against the Dark Forest. He had killed Tigerstar's spirit, but a flaming tree that fell down on him cost him his ninth life.

"Maybe she's like Tigerstar," Alderheart meowed darkly.

"If you can say Dreamcloud's like Tigerstar, you can say you're like Tigerstar! After all, you are his grandson, according to Bramblestar!" the golden she-cat argued sharply, firing up in defense of her friend, Dreamcloud.

Alderheart bit back a sharp retort and the four cats fell silent, looking at each other. Finally, the tortoiseshell she-cat spoke, breaking the tension.

"What if Dream means Dreamstar?" the tortoiseshell she-cat suggested, "After all, she was exiled by ThunderClan, and RiverClan refused to take her in. It's more likely if she would like revenge. And after all, she would want to destroy the two clans that rejected her!"

Alderheart agreed, "Yes, that's reasonable, Butterflyshade. Sorry about thinking it was Dreamcloud, Starstream and Rosebreeze."

Starstream let out a disdainful sniff, and stalked away. Rosebreeze blinked apologetically at Alderheart, following Starstream. Butterflyshade shot Alderheart a glare before following Starstream and Rosebreeze. Alderheart heaved a sigh and padded back into the ThunderClan camp with his fellow medicine cats, Starstream, Rosebreeze and Butterflyshade.
