I stopped just as the tip of her sword touched my chest. "You're quite the fighter, aren't you? How did you manage to kill them without bloodshed." I asked, smirking.
She narrowed her eyes at me. "I'm not answerable to you and if you're so curious t...
Ash~ This was turning out to be exhausting. It was literally the seventh shop. I just couldn't find the right ring. I had taken Sid' s help but the others were preparing the place for our special date so he and Clint(Sam's dad) were spending time with Sam so that we could surprise her.
We have been together for five years. Everything was going good. Hamla was dead and there was considerably less violence in the last five years.
I wanted to surprise Sam. I looked at the rings on the display but none of them caught my eye. Then I saw a ring with had silver wings on it with a tiny heart shaped ruby encrusted in the middle. The band was plain yet elegant. "Can I see this one?" I asked the salesman pointing at the ring. He nodded and took it out of the display box. He set it on the table. It looked even more beautiful. It would fit Sam perfectly.
"Can you pack this? Only this. Thank you." This was going to the near surprise ever.
Sam~ "Sid what is wrong with you today? You never miss a shot. Try again." I commanded putting my hands on my hips. He nodded and noched an arrow. He released it but it still didn t hit the target. Oh my god. We were literally going at it for two hours. First dad needed help with cooking and the household chores, now this.
I sighed and took a deep breath. "Let's do this again." I said rubbing hands together and corrected his position. "I'm only going to say this once. Draw the string, inhale. Release the arrow, exhale. Now try it. Again." He did as he was told and this time it was finally hit the bullseye. Thank goodness. I checked the time. It was seven. I had a date with Ash at eight. It was apparently some surprise so I thought I would dress up. I rarely dressed up and this time I was going to do it for him.
"Okay Sid. I'm going to get ready. Bye." I said waving. He smiled sheepishly and waved back. It was like he knew about something that I didn't. I dismissed that thought and walked out of the practice room. I climbed the stairs and made my way to my room.
I got into the bathroom and turned on the shower. I let the warm water soak my skin completely before turning it off. I took the shampoo and worked it into lather, gently massaging my hair and scalp. I rinsed it off and dried myself with a towel. I wrapped the towel around me and blowdried my hair.
I opened my closet and took out my favourite dress which I had bought while shopping with Ashley. Surprising we have become very close since my best friend died. The memories still stung a little.
It was a red tube dress with lace trimming at the bottom. The skirt part was of net lace with red satin that ended at my mid-thighs. The lace came just below my knees. It was beautiful yet simple. I put it on and finished the look by throwing in a pair of black peeptoes and light makeup. I left my hair loose after combing through it thoroughly. I grabbed my purse and went downstairs to see Ash chatting with dad and the others.
"That's bad. Every one forgot about me." I joked and skipped down the rest of the stairs. Ash looked breathtakingly handsome in his all-black suit.
"Shall we go my milady?"
"Absolutely." I said hooking my arm around his.
"Have fun. Don't be late." The others called out as I closed the door behind me.
He took out a blindfold and gave it to me. I looked at it in confusion. "Put it on. I have a surprise for you."
"Okay." I allowed him to tie it around my eyes. He took my hand and led me to a place, I had no idea of. I hated to be kept in the dark but I could do it for him.
We stopped after about ten minutes of walking and he opened the blindfold and my jaw almost dropped to the floor. This was where we had our first date. The cliff. He had decorated it. The surrounding trees were decorated with butterfly lights and there were banners which were suspended from the air. There was a round table in the middle with two glasses and a wine bottle in the middle. Rose petals were scattered around the table.
Ash pulled back the chair and I sat down. He sat down across from me and opened the wine bottle. "Wine?"
"Yes. Please." He poured wine in my glass and his and corled the bottle. We drank wine and chatted away happily. He clapped his hands and food appeared on the table. It was Indian food. I still laughed at him when he struggled to eat with his hands. I showed him the correct way, laughing.
"Listen, um, I need to tell you something."
"Yeah sure what is it?"
"Close your eyes first." I sighed and closed my eyes. Ash had been acting weird since a couple of days. Whenever I talked to him he would cut the conversation short and go out. Oh my god. Is he going to break up with me?
Get a grip. Let the guyspeakfirst before you draw your conclusions.
Yeah. Right. I took a deep breath. "Open your eyes." He said softly. I opened my eyes to see that he wasn't sitting in front of me. As I turned my head to see where he was, I found him kneeling on one knee in front of me with a small blue box on his outstretched palm. He opened the box to reveal a silver ring with a pair of wings on it. There was a small heart shaped ruby encrusted in the middle. Words were stuck in my throat.
"I have loved you from the moment I met you. You are the most amazing and the strongest person I have ever met. From the moment I set my eyes on you I had decided to spend the rest of my life with you. No one can stop me from loving you, not even God. I will love you till my last breath and beyond that if there is a life after death. I will always be there for you no matter what." He paused looking at me as if he was afraid that I would stop him or slap him or something. Instead I remained quiet, blinking back the tears that were threatening to fall from my eyes. "Samantha Johnson," he continued, "will you marry me?" All the words had left me. My throat closed up and I was literally choking on tears.
I just nodded and he slid the ring on my ring finger. It fit me perfectly. I stood up, grabbed his face and kissed him before he could even get up. I pulled away, allowing him to get up and wrapped my arms aro. That was when I knew that I wanted to be with, now and forever. I was vaguely aware of the others coming out of their hiding and congratulating us but I didn't let him. I would never let him go for the rest of my life and beyond that.
