~Sam~
The next week I worked out most of the time, barely resting or sleeping. Sid had sent me the details and I forwarded them to Ashley. I had to say he did a pretty good job. I did feel kinda bad for behaving rudely and she didn't seem to hate me which made even more guilty.
I was practicing punches when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I stopped and turned around to see Sid standing there with a worried expression on his face.
"What happened?"
"Ash has been off-grid for the past week."
"What?" I thought I didn't hear clearly but his expression told me I did. I didn't get it. First he breaks up with me then he disappears? God. Wait why am I feeling sad?
Because you still love him. Yeah I can't deny that. Nothing can change my love for him.
"Back to earth Sam." Sid said snapping his fingers in front of my face.
I jerked. "Huh?"
"I asked are you sure you still wanna do the mission?"
"Yes. I want to."
He sighed. "Fine then. I got a message that Hamla is hosting a party in New York city. He is hosting it tomorrow. So start packing." He informed.
I chuckled. "I don't need to pack. I'll just fly there. Tell me where I'm staying."
"I'll come with you. So no you're not flying. We'll take a portal."
"And who will make the portal for us?"
"Ashley." Sid said quietly. I smiled.
"Okay so when do we leave?"

It was a ten-minute drive from the city limits. The place was swarming with elegantly dressed people with masks. I wore a one shoulder sleeveless plain black dress with a slit up to my thigh.
The picture is below.
I had disguised myself as Claire Newman who apparently looked a lot like me. I had given her sedatives. It was enough to make her sleep for seven hours. Her eyes were purple so I had to focus on my eye colour.I too was wearing an elegant mask. I had my bracelet on and my necklace rested between my collarbone. Weird how it matched with the dress I was wearing. My hair was tied into a knot in the back of my head suspended by various sticks. My thigh sheather was hidden under my dress.
We had to pass through the metal detector. I went through it successfully. The place was huge with a chandelier slung from the ceiling in the middle of the room. The band was playing a soft song on the stage. Waiters served starters and there was a buffet on one side and a bar on the other.
Since everyone wore masks, Sid and Ashley were on the duty to find Hamla. I had a small microphone in my ear. They would direct me. They were in the security room, observing and scanning everyone. I smiled at the thought of them together.
I scanned the crowds for any potential danger. There were guards positioned outside the door and many stood along the walls. They didn't seem fazed and anyone could've mistaken them for statues.
"Hamla is wearing a black blazer with white frills. He has a white mask on." Sid said into the microphone. I scanned the crowds and found him, talking to some other mafia leaders.
"I spotted him. I'm going to discard the microphone. I'm going in. Over and out." I quietly took out my microphone and discarded it in the wastebin.
Now I needed a drink. I ordered a whisky from the bar. I drank it in one sip and set it on the table. I started towards Hamla when I felt someone's hands wrap around my waist. I turned around to find blue-green eyes staring back at me. His smell reminded me of ocean and I didn't sense him come up behind me.
My eyes widened as I realised who it was. "Come. Dance with me." He whispered. I clenched my fists and took a moment to compose myself.
I smiled sweetly at him. "Yes. Of course." He led me towards the dance floor and grabbed my waist, pulling me towards him roughly.
I placed one hand on his shoulder and the other in his hand. We swayed to the romantic music. I was cursing in my mind. I stared daggers at him but he simply smiled. I spotted Hamla dancing with some other woman. I had lost the opportunity. Shit!
Ash followed my line of vision and chuckled at me. "I didn't know you had a crush on Hamla."
I snorted. "In your dreams. Tell me what are you doing here?"
"I knew you would come here."
"So you're with Hamla now."
"Yes and no."
He was confusing me. I hoped Sid was watching this. I had to get out. Now. I untangled myself from him and walked fast towards the exit. I was compromised. The protocol was as soon as I was compromised we would leave and not wait for anyone. We would rendezvous back to our hiding place. I increased my pace as I felt his presence. He was following me.
He caught up with me and grabbed my wrist to stop me. I twisted my hand from his grip, freeing my wrist and walked quickly towards the exit.
But the guards stopped me. "I'm sorry but you can't leave." One of them said. I looked around to see that I was surrounded. All of them were vampires. They slowly started advancing towards me.
