I woke up and looked out the window. It was still dark. I looked around trying to see what woke me. Then I heard a toilet flush. My heartbeat slowed down and I laughed.
Summer walked out of the bathroom and raised one eyebrow. I wish I could do that. I waved my hand in dismissal and she shrugged.
She paused as she came in line with my bed. "Aiden? Why did you pick me?"
I tried raising one eyebrow and she laughed at my expression. Gosh, I love her laugh. I guess it didn't work though. "What do you mean?" I asked, giving up the eyebrow raising.
"I mean, there were so many other girls. Why'd you pick me?" Her voice had gone a little quiet and I pulled the covers off of me. Her eyes widened and I smiled gently.
"I'm not gonna hurt you okay? Listen. I picked you because... Because you looked into my eyes. Because you had a muzzle on. Muzzles are for dogs. Not girls."
Never, will I tell her the real reason. Ever.
"Okay." She seemed happy with that answer, yet sad. I've never comforted someone before, but my mom has comforted me before so I'm gonna try. I put an arm around her and she looked at me with tears in her eyes.
"What is it?" I pressured her gently.
"I-i-is your d-d-dad gonna, gonna hurt me tomorrow?" She sobbed. Oh. That's what it's about.
"How about I take you into the city tomorrow? Then we won't see him for most of the day. Okay?" I wanted her to nod. To say yes. And thank God she did. Then I led her to the couch with my arm still around her. But when we got there I didn't want to take it off.I
So I layed her down and pulled out the foot rest. And slept there.

I snuck into the kitchen with Summer following me. I grabbed four pieces of toast and two bananas. Then I quietly carried them with me to a secret place behind the castle. Only I know about it. It's a hole that leads to a cave.
It has a table and three chairs in case I decided to ever bring anyone with me. Like now. I set the food down on the table and sat in a chair. I motioned for Summer to do the same and she sat in the chair across from me.
I gave two pieces of toast and one of the bananas to her and took the others for myself.
If course, she protested, "No, I can't take all that just for breakfast. I lived off of basically that once per day, my entire time in the shop."
I mumbled through the food in my mouth, "No wonder you're so thin." She looked down at her stomach and shrugged. Then she took a bite and her eyes closed in bliss. She didn't see me, but I smiled at her.
She was way too happy to just be eating a piece of toast. Then she opened the banana and took a bite of that. After her first taste she ate it really fast. Bite after bite. I had finished my food, and just say there, watching her eat. It was really amusing.
She finished and smiled up at me. She had gotten really comfortable for only being with me for one day. I guess I was really nice.
I regretfully put her collar and leash on and we headed to the city.

I was playing frisbee with some little Duns and Summer was sitting down watching me.
I heard footsteps behind me and turned with a smile on my face. Then the smile faded as I saw my dad. And a frown replaced its opposite as I saw his face. It was his, 'watch out Aiden I'm gonna scream at you'd face.'
