I turned around but pushed Summer further along. She started to turn around but I whispered, "Anisa!" And she turned back around real quick. Eva walked up to Summer and they kept walking down the street.
I looked at Chase out of the corner of my eye. He looked really mad and disapointed. Then I saw that Anisa was walking with his betrothed, Haley Mckay the dutchess of Contangel. Stuck up little...
Anisa walked up to me and jabbed me in the chest. "Who was that girl?! Are you cheating on me?! And why are you so dressed up?! Where are you going?" She whisper-screamed.
I wish I were cheating on her with Summer. Chase gave me a worried glance as Haley questioned him as well.
"Let's see. Caroline Peck, she's an acquaintance. No. I'm going to lunch. There I think this interrogation is over, now if you will let me and Chase take our friends to lunch we would be very grateful." I finished all in one breath. They both looked at me as if I were the crazy one.
Boy, I hate Anisa. She suddenly sweetened up and snuggled into my arm. I gave Chase a questioning look as Haley did the same. Haley was one of those people that followed one person around and did everything they did. She followed Anisa.
Anisa said, "Maybe you can take us with you to lunch with your friend Caroline and your sister." I gave Chase a look. He saw it and there was an understanding that passed through us that only best friends can have.
Chase spoke up, "Actually, Caroline is kinda shy and we should probably get to know her before we introduce you to her." Although he didn't look very convincing, I saw understanding flicker across the girls' faces.
Anisa gave me a kiss on my cheek and I just barely resisted the urge to swipe it away. "See ya later then." She fluttered her lashes and I groaned inwardly.
She was honestly so terrible. As is Haley's habit, she did and said the exact same things before they both walked away.
Me and Chase breathed a big sigh of relief before turning around to search for Summer and Eva. We saw them going into the right house and we hurried to catch up with them.
Summer still walked stiffly and awkwardly because of the holes and stripes on her back. I caught up to her and carried her up the stairs of the house, and when I put her down at the top she smiled at me gratefully.
I found myself grinning back like a lunatic. She did weird things to my stomach. And basically my whole body.
She turned around and scanned the streets. Luckily no-one was there besides the retreating backs of Anisa and Haley. She knocked on the door and a little girl, Tommy's age, opened it.
Her face lit up at the sight of Chase, Eva, and I. Then her gaze turned suspicious at the sight of Summer. I pulled her into a hug, "Wow, Abby, look how big you are! You're almost taller than me!" She giggled as I let her go and I glanced at Summer. She was watching me and I saw admiration and compassion in her gaze. All five of us walked into the medium sized house.
Some music was playing but only two couples and five kids were on the dance floor. There was a table of snacks and after Summer glanced at me and I nodded with a smile, she ran to the table and stuffed one of everything into her mouth.
I hate how she thinks she still has to ask permission. Especially here of all places!
I walked over to her while Chase and Eva followed. They were whispering and laughing about something. Eva broke off from Chase when we were almost at the table and walked up to me. "Just so you know, I taught Summer how to dance." She winked at me and then grabbed a plate. She really does know me too well.
