Christmas Special Bonus Chapter #2 : Let It Snow

(Yuki's pov)

While he's gone I need to get him a present.

I still haven't thought of one for him.

I walked outside near some bushes.

Maybe.... Some berries?

I took a bite out of one and immediately spit it out, cringing at the strange metallic taste.

Okay... That's a no.

I picked up some dry grass beside the bushes.

I could weave a small rug?

The grass crumbled to dust in my hand.

That's also a no.

I went back inside the cave and began pacing.

I just can't think of anything he'd like!

I kept pacing and pacing back and forth until I ran into a wall and fell.

Ouch.....

I got back up and looked outside and the bushes again.

Then a little light bulb went on over my head.

-----Some Time Later-----

"Yuki? " I heard at the opening of the cave.

I was hiding behind the makeshift dresser in the back of the cave.

"Yes? " I said grinning.

"Where are you? "

I lept out from behind the dresser and screamed.

I couldn't stop laughing as I saw him freeze up and fall over.

"I got you a present. " I said smiling.

He grinned a wolfy grin.

"What you'd get me? " he said.

I pulled out a small parcel from behind me and gave it to him.

He slowly opened it with his teeth, tearing the flimsy paper apart.

When all the paper was ripped apart and cast aside it revealed a small necklace.

"Wow... " was all he said.

I picked it up and started to tell him about it as I put it on him.

"I made the cord out of some the small bushes and the charm is a pretty blue stone I picked up last time we went to the lake. There. " I said and backed away so I could see how it looked.

"Thank you Yuki. "

I smiled.

"Anything for you. " I said and hugged him.

He pulled away and looked me in the eyes.

"Your present is outside. "

I quickly ran outside and spotted some sticks covering up my present.

I brushed the sticks away slowly to see.....

Is that...

Daddy's sword.

I felt the tears fall down.

Daddy, I miss you. I miss you and mommy so much....

I hugged the katana tightly, letting tears run down the sides.

"Yuki, was it too much? " I heard him say.

I turned around and smiled brightly.

"No. This is, this is more than enough. Thank you so much. "

I hugged it closer.

"I remembered a really good memory. Daddy and me were at the park and a bad fairy came up to us and started messing with me. Daddy fought it away with this. He saved me. He never let this out of his sight. He said he needed to always have it around to protect me. He's gone... "

I felt my blue wolf beside me.

I looked at him in a crazily frantic way.

"You'll protect me right! You'll stay with me forever, right!?!" I shouted.

He smiled.

"Yes. "

Then I felt something cold on my nose.

I tounched my nose and relized it was snow.

Snow!?!

I looked up to see snowflakes falling from the sky in the most beautiful fashion.

Daddy, can you hear me?

Mommy, can you see me?

Merry Christmas.

I will never forget you. Ever.

So, I watched slowly as the snow fell like tears from heaven.

I watched as the sky wept in a mixture of joy and grief.

I watched as it gathered around me making me feel more warm than cold.

I watched until my lips started to turn blue.

Then I stood up and turned around.

And I felt happy.
