CHAPTER SEVEN

THE NIGHT WILL BE OVER SOON

~15 HOURS LATER~

Barely managing to keep my eyes open I listen to the voices that weren't even trying to be discreet about their presence.

"Look Minnie-... I-... too much, I panicked!... coward-... regret ever doing what I did to you and Sophie!"

Marlon?

"But please just help them out of here. You can keep me here if you want just get the others out of here I'm begging you Minnie!"

Marlon...what does he mean 'keep me here' he's not- no!

"He already has to live with the guilt Minnie and he knows he can never make up for what he did but don't let the others suffer for it! Think of your brother" Clem even I think that was a bit harsh-

"Don't you dare bring my brother into this! You know nothing and it's all your fault that my brother and the others are in this mess!" Minnie raises her voice at Clem.

"And you talk about guilt? Ha! Well I hope that guilt drives you mad one of these days Marlon" I finally open my eyes to see Minnie glaring daggers into Marlon who's only just blocking me from the fiery and hateful eyes of Minnie. Even though I'm hanging from the ceiling he still manages to be that little bit taller.

"Marlon? What are you doing here?" I lift my head up and he turns around, a look of surprise and relief in his eyes.

"Are you ok? I'm sorry I can't cut you down, they took the knife I had" worry laced in his words.

Minnie has now disappeared and Clem was moving around the room and talking to the others. I see AJ slide over the shiv he usually keeps with him and Clem started to chip at the door when a woman comes and kicks it making her stop.

"Hey! Whatever you're doing. Don't. I promise you, it ain't worth it. Step back!" the woman says until we hear Lily's voice which makes her back away from the door and straighten her posture. Not really hearing what Lily says I block out some of the conversation as I don't really care.

Lily and Minnie returned and asked about Abel. AJ tells her that they killed him and Clem confirmed it saying it was mercy and that he didn't want to turn.

"Back up" Lily points the gun at Clem and she does so, not before stepping on the shiv and sliding it behind her towards Marlon who by now was kneeling down and quietly picked it up and putting it into his back pocket.

"Minerva, open the door"

"Yes ma'am" Minnie walks over and opens it, moving out of the way for Lily to walk in first who looks at me a little confused but looking back at Clem.

"Tell me why's this one strung up?" She asks calmly still keeping eye contact with Clem.

"Marshall's doing ma'am. He was lashing her with his belt but I stopped him as she was already passed out"

"Cut her down. Can't stand to see her looking so pathetic any longer"

"Guess you do have a heart then?" Clem said smugly which only made her wave her gun in a direction, telling her to move as she took a seat on the bed.
