'Cause somebody stole my car radio and now I just sit in silence.

"I'm home!"

Ashton hopped up from the couch, throwing the book he was reading on to the cushion beside him before running to the front door.

"Yayayayay," Ashton chanted excitedly as he rounded the corner and ran in to Luke's arms at full speed, "Lukeyyy!!! I missed you!"

Luke let out a little "oomph" and laughed (as best he could with the wind knocked out of him).

"I've only been out for like, two hours, you weirdo."

Ashton giggled and nuzzled his face in to Luke's neck, "Is it pathetic that I missed you this much?"

Luke smiled softly at the beautiful boy and wrapped his arms around him, "Nah. I missed you more."

"Impossible."

Luke felt the recently familiar lump in his throat form again as he tightened his grip around Ashton's body.

"I don't want you to go."

Ashton smiled sadly and took a shaky breath, pulling back enough to look Luke in the eyes.

"Can I say something?"

Luke blinked back the tears threatening to spill and nodded, "Of course."

Ashton cleared his throat, "Um, I know grieving is hard. Losing my dad felt, like, impossible, you know? I honestly thought I was going to die from sadness. But I didn't, I found ways to get over it; some that I really regret," he briefly gestured to his forearms, "but I mean, those tears and scars are reminders that I'm still alive, yeah?"

Ashton stopped to place a gentle kiss on Luke's trembling lips, "And honestly Luke, even though I'm dying, I've never felt so alive when I'm with you."

Luke let the sobs pushing at his throat escape all at once in a frenzy of tears.

And Ashton just let him cry; heaven knows he never had that opportunity when he was a child. He let Luke cry and he held him tight against his chest until there were no more tears left in him and his desperate sobs turned to shaky hiccups.

"It's okay, love," Ashton whispered in to Luke's ear, "I'm right here."

Luke pulled his face from Ashton's neck and sniffled, "Sorry about your shirt."

Ashton cracked a smile at the damp spots on his shirt and shrugged, "It's a fashion statement."

Luke laughed and wiped his eyes. His jacket pocket started to feel much too heavy as he fiddled with what was inside, "Babe, can I ask you something?"

Ashton furrowed his eyebrows in confusion but nodded nonetheless, "Sure."

Luke slowly knelt down on one knee, the same way he'd seen countless people do it in the movies, and pulled the little black box from his pocket.

He swiftly flipped it open, revealing the simple silver band inside.

"Marry me?"

The smile Ashton gave him was single-handedly the most breathtakingly beautiful thing Luke had ever seen.

"Of course, you twat."
