The city was alive, as the stars had made their appearance with the moon. Streets filled with crowds of people dressed in coats, ear muffs, gloves, and beanies. Winds and night air have picked up, cooling down the temperatures throughout the endless city.
Buildings and towers had left the lights on, glistening against the starry sky. Cars sped through the streets with music styles blasting through, single seconds of a beat echoing around the center.
"Yes, we have a reservation under the name Zhou Mina," her brown hair being brushed away from her face, as she spoke to the hostess.
Mina's pastel pink dress mimicked the blue lighting in the restaurant, transforming the color. Wei had taken off his contacts, dressed in specs. His t-shirt and jeans almost made it seem like the man who had gone to the interview, that morning, was on another person.
"Right this way," the hostess grabbed two menus from a pile behind her, leading the pair of friends to a small table under some dim lighting.
Wei and Mina nodded, thanking her, as they each took a seat opposite one another. The menu was extensive and full of divergent global dishes. Simaki was a chain restaurant, which had started in Japan, and eventually made its way to several countries. The three owners were all diverse in culture and had their own cooking styles.
A smiling Mina opened one of the menus placed in the center of the black, wooden table. Following along, Wei looked down, reading through the many choices before him. Everything had looked so appetizing, and delicious. He wasn't entirely sure what he was in the mood for, while Mina was pretty much narrowing it down.
"What are you in the mood for?" Wei heard a familiar voice speak, sounding a bit far away.
His brown locks swayed with his head, as it hung itself up from looking down at the list of foods. Turning his head right and then left, as if he were crossing a street, Wei was in search of the culprit who was speaking.
"Is he allowed to have sushi this young?" there it was, again, but the face was invisible, not revealing itself to the brunette.
Shaking it off, Wei hung his head low, once more, reading along through the pages, until he had decided on beef and broccoli, sticking to what he knew he liked. Mina, however, had set her mind on four different sushi rolls, knowing the two would share everything, either way.
A waitress with the name tag reading Chen joined their table with some water, ready to take their order. The two thanked Chen, once they had replied with their dish choices. It was safe to say Chen's eyes widened when Mina ordered four rolles was the highlight of their dinner.
Or, so they thought.
"I told Mai I'm leaving, and she's not to happy with me," Wei filled the silence with some conversation, the random voice still on his mind.
"She's never happy with you, babe," Mina laughed, taking a sip of her water. "Anyway, tell me about your boss."
"What's to tell? I only met him for a few minutes, during the interview," Wei responded with a shrug, rolling his eyes, playfully.
"You said he's not old and ugly, so he must be young and hot," Mina's eyes showed a hint of mischief, while she pursed her lips.
"I'm not sleeping with my boss, Nana," he shook his head, whisper yelling his reply at his best friend.
"Oh come on, you've never fantasized about doing it on a desk? Bending over, letting him-" she raised a brow, speaking in a normal tone of voice, knowing full well people around her could hear every single word.
"That's besides the point, dude," he sighed, brushing his hair back with his hand, feeling someone looking his way.
Discreetly looking to his right and left, the brunette had attempted to find the person who had him on edge.
