The dark school scared Isen more than he was willing to admit. "Stupid Blyke. Stupid bet. Gah! Stupid me..." Isen had been dared to visit the school at night, during the vampire's classes. He couldn't believe it was the same institution. The school he attended in the morning was completely different from the cold, terrifying, and dangerous place it was now. He was only here because of what Blyke had found out three days ago. Isen remembered the entire embarrassing situation clearly:

He had been standing behind the bushes at sunset, as he watched the vampire students walk around the campus from their dorms. Everyday, ever since he saw her, he would hide himself each day just to catch a glimpse of her. She was beautiful. Her violet eyes captivated him each time he saw them and he was addicted. He was so entranced, he hadn't realized that his best friend Blyke was standing behind him.

"Someone's got a cru-ush!" Isen spun around horrified.

"B-blyke?!" His face turned a shade of crimson as he tried to explain what he was doing. Blyke wasn't convinced. "It's... it's..."

"It's that girl with the cyan hair right. Short bob, tall. You like her?" Blyke asked straightforwardly. "I guess she looks decent. But you know we're not supposed to be here after hours, and you know you haven't really fallen in love with her anyway. It's just a stupid crush. Besides, all vampires look good in order to seduce their prey."

"No! She's, er, different." Isen said, lost for words. He couldn't explain it, but there was just something about her that would make him do anything. It wasn't just the looks.

"Oh yeah? Prove it. I dare you to come here at midnight while their classes are in session. Find her, talk to her." Blyke said, grinning mischievously. Isen gulped, before agreeing.

That brings us back to the present, where he is climbing through the gates on the far side of the academy. "This is about the time they get their break, right?" He skirted the corner of the first building, which was the library and walked back around the face the courtyard. "Holy cow, they're all gorgeous!" It was part of a vampires genetics to look good, to draw in prey. Although to Isen, none of them could compare to her. "This is stupid." he thought, trying to push back his feelings. "Maybe Blyke was right. This is just some dumb crush. I don't even know her!" As if on cue, two girls walked past the pillar behind him, just feet away from Isen. He jumped and scurried to hide behind another ornamental bush, peeking out to see who they were. "It's the girl!" The same cyan haired girl was walking along side a girl with light ginger hair, which fell in soft waves down her back. They were chatting softly, but close enough to Isen, that he could hear them.

"Ugh, I don't know how you do it Cecile. Professor Wilks is way too hard on us. I need a break." The ginger complained, tossing her long hair behind her back.

"Her name... it's Cecile." Isen thought. "How am I supposed to get her by herself when that other girl is there?" He squat-walked from one bush to next, to get closer to the two as they moved forward. Suddenly the girls stopped.

"Hm, you feel that. Feels like someone's watching us." Cecile said, looking unsure.

"You're just paranoid, I told you to stop watching those freaky movies before sleeping." the ginger friend said. Cecile shot her a look that said "shut up".

"I'll do a quick check around the area, give me a moment Vanessa." She told her. Cecile carefully made her way around the pillar they were near, ignoring her friends complaints and warnings about how they'd be late to their next class. She was only three bushes down from Isen and she didn't stop. Two bushes. One bush. Isen had no route of escape and pressed himself to the bush, squeezed his eyes shut, and attempted to melt into the plant.

"You're right. Nothing here." Cecile made her way back to her friend.

"I told you! We're gonna be late!" Cecile paused in her movement for a moment.

"I have to use the restroom. Go to class without me."

The ginger, Vanessa, slammed her hand onto her forehead. "Gah, stupid Cecile! Did you not hear a word of what I just said?"

"It's fine. I always skip. Go on." Vanessa rolled her eyes and continued. Cecile turned around and began to walk to the very bush Isen was hiding in. Isen, whose heart was still pounding after the near encounter, didn't notice. That was until an ice cold hand gripped his wrist and pulled him away.

"Whuh?" he said, confused. He looked up to see a familiar cyan bob in front of him as he was lead away. "I was caught." She swiftly made it to a dark alley near the school, familiar to Isen because he often hung out on the wall here with Blyke and his other friends. She shoved him against the wall and grabbed his collar.

"I thought I smelled human blood." she said grinning. Isen had a very good view of her long, pointed teeth. "What are you doing here? You have a death wish or something?"

"It's, well... I've." Isen stumbled over his words. When he imagined talking to her, he didn't see it being his last human words.

"Cecile looked him over and finally realized. "Wait a second, you're that guy who hid in the bushes a few days ago! You've been stalking me for that long?!"

"It's not, uh, stalking. And I had a good reason to do so..." His words trailed off.

Cecile slowly released his collar leaving him to stand and crossed her arms. "You do realize that us vampires are supposed to look good for the sake of finding prey, right? Whatever you feel for me right now, it's probably temporary."

Isen felt a rush of confidence and he didn't know where it came from. "You're different though! I've seen other vampires and they look good and all but I don't feel the same way with them like I do with you!" Isen said, his cheeks dusted pink.

Cecile blushed a little in turn as well. She had always found herself quite bored at the academy. Everyone was good-looking, and they were all vampires. This human felt something special with her, and, in truth, after hearing his honest feelings, Cecile began to feel something too. She leaned her face in close to his.

"Alright." she said, smiling lightly, face still pink. "You're cute. I'll give you a chance."
