"You are welcome to join next time." Talon said, winking. Goddess who would have thought I would be here with a vampire who was inviting me to shower with him.

I cleared my throat awkwardly and he laughed.

"Ok. So can you teach me how to take down a vampire?" I said wanting to get to business. Talon sighed and got up from the couch and started doing up his shirt buttons.

"Well, you can't be compelled but you have to be ready to fight. Show me what you've got." he said, motioning for me to make a move, his piercing blue eyes twinkling.

"Ok. Sure. Here goes." I said, as I closed my eyes and focused myself, incanting:

"Prohibere!"

I opened my eyes to see Talon was a couple feet away from me, but not advancing any further. The spell had worked, he was unable to move, as if glued to the floor.

"Score one for the witch!" I said, grinning. He nodded in acknowledgement, a small smirk on the corner of his lips. I lifted the spell, feeling some of my energy fade with it.

"Another." He encouraged. This time when he came at me I quickly focused on sending his momentum back at him.

"By the power of three times three,
Your ill intent I send back to thee!"

One minute he was running towards me, then he was thrown across the room. There was a loud crash as he landed against the wall and fell down, taking an expensive looking portrait with him.

"Crap. Sorry" I said nervously. I hope that wasn't a really important painting.

He laughed as he got up, brushing himself off.

"Maybe we should take this outside," he said, amused. I nodded and followed him out the back.

As we walked through the house, which was basically a mansion, I couldn't help but be in awe. We could have been in another era, with the chandeliers, the antique furniture, wallpaper and general décor from another time.

I followed him outside, past a beautiful patio with an outdoor dining setting, lounge and pool. I couldn't help myself and had to comment.

"This place is amazing." Talon laughed at my expression of awe.
"It's like we're in a different era! I so wish I could go back in time." I said, letting my history nerd slip out.

"It wasn't all courting and banquets and balls," Talon said, taking in my enthusiasm, but hinting at something darker in his words.

"Oh my Goddess, what you would have seen,-experienced- wait, how old are you?" I said, stopping in my tracks suddenly giddy, realising I was standing with someone who had potentially lived through historical events I had spent my Uni degree studying.

"Oh no. I'm not telling you that sweetheart." Talon said, laughing. I pouted.

"Ok. Fine. If you stop me then I'll give you a hint." he said compromisingly. I grinned.

We had walked past the pool and onto the lawn, flowers and plants were arranged in a beautiful design. A funny mental image came to mind of Talon gardening which caused a giggle to almost escape my lips. They must have a gardener or staff around somewhere, I mused. The place was massive. I just couldn't imagine Talon and Al doing all the chores and upkeep.

Talon and I turned to face each other, some ten feet apart.

This time when Talon motioned for me to go, I had barely started an incantation and he had pushed me over onto the ground. I gasped. He had my arms pinned next to my head and his legs on either side of me, holding me down. His face was close enough that I felt his breath on my own. His blue eyes had become darker, his pupils dilated.
